Hello everyone! I have not been here in MONTHS and have no idea what is happening. Scrolled back a few pages but family is on me to get off of here so had to quit. Hope everyone is okay. Had to build a new coop to get in compliance with the county. Got the okay from the county and am now...

    ID these black ducks??

I know almost nothing about ducks but I noticed a flock of three ducks that showed up at the local pond that I am pretty sure are not wild ducks. Curious as to what breed they are. They are a bit larger than the mallard ducks but otherwise have the same body type. The main color is black and...

Chicken LORE Project - Find & Submit Local Chicken Laws & Ordinances

I also think there should be a comment section. In my area poultry noise is specifically exempt from the noise ordinance. Seems like a good law to know about.

So I have procrastinate mightly and now have about 3 weeks to come up with some new chicken living quarters. I bought a very cute little run down shed that I thought I could fit throught the fence. After going through transport it is looking much worse. Now I think I should take it apart and...

Quote: Howdy! I am at the other end of Bothell near Mill Creek. You are welcome to have some of my eggs. They would not be purebred anything, but they are free and local. Our silkie sat on two eggs this winter and one hatched. She is a really pretty black austrolorp/splash cochin cross...

Howdy Mikey! Yup - chickens are remarkably addicting. We were going to have three hens... in less than a year we have 13. Now my BF, who thought the whole chicken thing was nuts, has breeds of chickens he wants!

Thanks Rustler - tree seems fine. The shed is just resting on the blocks so in theory is moveable. Roos were exceptionally loud this morning. Good boys!! Tryst Inn - soooo cute!! #3 is my favorite. Our orps are the sweetest chickens so I am partial to small yellow fuzzies.

Oh yes - a flock in every yard! Hmmm - campain slogan? For the princess of poultry position in the next parade? Thank you for all the advice re: shed moving. Ronnie: I am not sure I am competent enough to answer this. The shed has a plywood floor held up by a 2x4 frame. The whole thing...

How irritating: I just typed up this whole response and suddenly it vanished! Ugg. Well, if you happen to visit Hoquiam make sure you do not "tether" your chickens in the street or let your "ass ... be at large (good thing that "at" word is in there or I would be in trouble ) at any time"...

Quote: I have (had?) the same problem with raccoons using my cedars as a communal latrine. Gross!! Found it after I got chickens and was worried about their safety. King County has a webpage about getting rid of these raccoon latrines. I tried to follow their steps, and all, and removed...

Huge problem with a feral cat in my yard. He and raccoons kill the neighbor chickens and leave the parts in my yard. Squirrel parts too. Raccoons also use one of my cedars as a toilet. Have I mentioned how much I HATE RACCOONS!!! I will say the mama raccoon with her babies was cute and they...

Alrighty - now this is more like it! I have had my evening of smiling and chuckling at my computer. Tonight I will be dreaming of mobs of delinquent chickens roaming the streets of Hoquiam drinking 40 oz's, holding up 7-11's and running an illicit underground egg cartel. Councilmembers better...
