Just curious to see what everyone feed their meat birds. I feed a 20-24% feed. Does anyone use corn? Also my brother ( these meat chicks are our summer project ) was wondering if you could almost marinate them while they are still living by feed in peppers ect. for the last week or so.

Hello! i was wondering when everyone butchered their chicks. I have Cornish X and I've heard their hearts can give out if they are to heavy. Also does anyone know how to dress a bird by not just cutting off the meat but cooking the whole bird? ( i hope this makes sense ) Sarah

yup. The first bird be butchered and ate was a little bantam rooster that tried to flag me! Bad idea buddy. We didn't get to much meat but it was good!

We do it by ourselves here. We found some really good info sites and it was easier than you'd think!

I use the cornish x hens. I love them. They grow incredibly fast. We just got our first batch in and we will be butchering soon.
