Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Thanks! I am ashamed to say I have not been here for ages....the new del web site is thedelclub.webstarts.com at least for now. We have had a HORRIBLE time with webstarts, and that is all I am going to say, LOL! My older Del girls still lay huge eggs, and they are still my big pets. Miss...

Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Interesting- they do not look like any Delawares I have seen- they are rather gray- Del chicks should be purely yellow, and the feathers white with black markings. I wonder what is in there???? Check the Delaware club web site for a list of breeders. The site is changed- contact me if you...

Walt, I know I am just repeating myself, but the descriptions in the SOP need a color reference somewhere for people to understand what "medium chestnut red" etc. look like. I think my birds look like medium chestnut red, but supposedly they are too dark. If you can dig up photos, it would...

Kathy, the younger boys with the high tail sets seem to be nice and full in the body- nice round look- the older boy seems shallower. Is that just the picture? That last one seems broad and lower in the back before you come to the tail- I would keep an eye on him, too. Are the girls...

Shoot, all I see is that Kathy, AFTER SAYING ALL THE STOCK CAME THROUGH HER, gave her opinion on which birds she liked and which she didn't. I don't see a problem with her giving her opinion. I do see a problem with Banjo jumping all over her and blaming her - she SAID the stock came from her...

Mine are good size overall, I have seven girls and only one is what I would call a light weight. I will sell hatching eggs, but there may be someone closer to you. I am in NC.

Wait- is the spare roo the same as roo #2- I just went back and looked, as I thought there were three rooster there. Ah, old age!!! If so he is definitely better than the first roo, and I would take him even if he was a bit smaller.

Can you get a rear shot of the spare roo? And give him his own space? I have seen some growth rate differences out of the same hatch - sometimes some just grow up slower than others.

So SDWD is now famous. Heavens. I am not sure if that means whoever made that list needs to get a real job or what! Good luck on everyone's hatches. I am only hatching for other people, not me, this year. Cyn, Shelby is laying up a storm - I am selling eggs to a local restaurant and they...

I like the color of my Del eggs, too, very distinct, and a pinkish tan also. Cyn, is Janet back breeding again? I wondered if she ever got back into it after all her ...was it health problems?

    Answer to the Delaware Dilemma

I think it would depend on the whole genetic code - which I know little about. The BR/NH is the cross used as far as I know. Kathy has F2's on the ground, two females that I know of, and several males to choose from for the next stage.

Delawares and BBS Orpingtons - it all began two years ago when the neighbor's chickens started free ranging on our property. They were friendly, funny, and when my neighbor said I could have any eggs they laid in my barn, I got hooked on those fresh, wonderful brown eggs. So I started...
