    speckled sussex

Looking for SS hatching eggs or pullets. I lost mine, and I love the breed. My first one was hatchery and she had reproductive problems. Not egg bound, just problems. Would like breeder quality this time. Not looking for show quality, just healthy birds. Thanks!

I don't know whom to give credit to, but here it is: Ham and Eggs a day's work for a chicken- a lifetime commitment for a pig

    What Can I/would You Do

For the last couple of years my *dear* neighbor, who is an animal lover, has been taking care of the "girls" when I've been away. He does a WONDERFUL job, and I really trust him. My problem is, he keeps buying them corn, and feeding it to them. I said something to him the second year, but he has...

Has anyone else ever had this problem?

I noticed that Wendy, my Welsummer, was having difficulty breathing. When I picked her up to examine her, I noticed her one nostril was clogged. I haven't been able to check the other side. What is this from, and how do I clean it? Do I try to dislodge it with a toothpick? Qtips are way too...

Is There A Roo Among Us?

These chicks were hatched July 29-30. They are a BJG X cochin, BJG X RIR, or BJG X Americauna. I'm not sure about the two. My BCM had hatched out 4 of four eggs, two RIRs, one Bl Cochin, and one Americauna. One died a couple of days after hatching. It was healthy, I don't know what happened...

Does anyone on here raise Maine Coons, or have one? I had rescued two kittens from CL last Sept 13th after having to put my precious Athena to sleep. This guy was going to "throw them away!!! Lucky me! They were a year old in July, and are littermates, both females. They both have long...

are there any tropical plant lovers here?

I had posted these pics on our "sister" site, but got no responses. Can anyone help me? I had brought these seeds back from a cruise with my mother a couple of years ago. I finally got around to planting them. I believe they came from somewhere along the coast of Mexico. The name escapes me...

    sex?

I would like some opinions on the sex of these chicks. They are B Cochin X BJG, WR X BJG, Lt Brahma X BJG, and RIR X BJG. The reddish one is an unknown X , (you guessed it! ) BJG. They were hatched May 27th, and the reddish one June 3rd.

    what are you freezing now?

Today I picked four gallons of fresh organic strawberries, then froze them all to use in my kefir smoothies. The best part of it all is that they were FREE!!! My neighbor planted so many strawberries, his wife doesn't freeze them, or make jam, so he told me to come pick as many as I want...

    are they still good

Betty Barnevelder was broody, so I put some various eggs crossed with my BJG under her. She must have gotten off the nest to eat, drink and poop, 'cause Henrietta, my BO, is broody also, and she stole her nest. Betty decided to be broody on fake eggs, so I left her go. I went up tonight to...

Did anyone see Glenn Beck tonight?

He was really gettin' down on the stupid laws regarding food safety, the Amish, unpasturized milk, etc. It was really good. He really gets the point across.

I had posted this yesterday, but now her butt is almost touching the ground: "I need advice on Sadie, my speckled sussex. Her eyes are clear, nostrils clear, but she's acting differently. I noticed she's staying off by herself, digging and acting otherwise normally 'til Thurs. I then noticed...
