One duckling hatched, other eggs abandoned

Gloves and jacket it is - i really need to get her off that nest. I did consider incubating the other eggs but I incubated some last year (after a few years of not doing it) and I hadn’t quite remembered what a challenge it is raising ducklings- they’re soooo messy. Plus we’re going away in two...

One duckling hatched, other eggs abandoned

My Welsh Harlequin has been sitting on 16 eggs and three have hatched. When I discovered them three days ago there was one lying dead in the house, one shot out after his mum when I approached, and another was in the nest drying off (not long hatched). The mother is in and out of the house, one...

Duckling throwing head back and can’t stand

I rescued some eggs from one our ducks who had been sitting for almost six weeks with nothing happening. Most were non-viable when I candled but two seemed to be developing so I incubated them. One hatched out four days ago and was doing well but yesterday I found it on it’s back, flailing...

Six weeks - eggs still not hatched!

So we have one runner duck in our flock of 13, and she has been in one of the houses, sitting on a nest for about six weeks. She is sat right up against the opening side so I haven’t been in as I’ve not wanted to disturb her. Some of our other ducks have been laying right at the back of the...

One egg not hatched - how long should I wait?

Our mummy duck, Daisy, was sitting on eight eggs. Six hatched out successfully two days ago, one has vanished (!) and the final one is still in the nest but showing no signs of pipping. My guess is that it probably won't hatch now but I don't want to take it and dispose of it if there's still...

    What colour are my drakes?

Aha, yes! That sounds about right. I wasn't far off the mark then when I said he had a mallard head and bibbed body! I'm really interested to see what the six ducklings turn out like. Not sure which of the drakes is the father - guess it could be either or both!

    What colour are my drakes?

The one in the foreground of the first pic is one of my apricot girls. I think the lighter drake is also apricot (maybe apricot is called butterscotch in America?). The one I'm really baffled by is my darker colored male.

    What colour are my drakes?

Can anyone help please? The grey headed one is, I think, an apricot, but I'm not sure about the other one. I have scoured the web for photos but can't find any like him. He has the green irridescent head of a mallard, but other than than he looks more like a bibbed.

    Pictures Of Your Little Ducklings!!

These are my six call ducklings that I hatched three weeks ago . Despite our cats knocking the incubator on the floor twice, and the fact it was my first attempt at hatching, they all survived! Who said calls are hard to hatch????!

Help please - urgent, incubator fell on floor!

Thank you! It was my first time too but I found all the info on this site really helpful. I think I must have very tough little ducklings! Good luck with yours :).

Help please - urgent, incubator fell on floor!

In case anyone saw this and is interested in the outcome - they all hatched today! They seem to be doing fine, snuggling together in the incubator. I couldn't be happier. :)

Help please - urgent, incubator fell on floor!

Ok, I've warped them all in damp papers towels, making sure to cover the exposed membranes but leaving any already pipped areas clear. Strangely, one egg seems almost completely intact which is good news. The one which had already started to zip is cheeping a lot which I guess could either...

Help please - urgent, incubator fell on floor!

Thank you for replying. I can't stand to think that they might be alive but damaged in there. I did wonder about a damp paper towel. I guess it couldn't hurt? I don't want to make anything worse than it is already. I am so furious at that cat but also at myself as I'd moved the incubator...

Help please - urgent, incubator fell on floor!

Please help, one of my cats just managed to knock the incubator onto the kitchen floor. Three out of seven ducklings have hatched already - the third was just today so we have moved him to the brooder with the other two. It's too early to tell if he has sustained any damage but he seems ok and...
