I think that my meat birds have cocci. They are starting to die off and I am just curios what I should do, if anything. They are still to thin to butcher even though they are going on 6 weeks. Any advice is appreciated
I need advice really bad. The wobbles disease has struck my meaties and is killing them off. It's the disease that makes it so the chickens can't walk straight or stand straight. It hit my mother in laws flock and killed most of the chickens. What is causing this and how do I prevent it from...
I raise them with heritage until they start to get feathers then the Cornish go out into the yard to free range by two weeks. I don't restrict their food and they pretty much roam around my backyard with the egg layers. My producing egg layers are in a different coop so get different food but...
I thought they were broilers when I got them and so had them housed in the roofer with three turkeys and a dozen white broilers. I've had three broilers, one production red, and one turkey die because of the fights between them and the production reds. Although the turkey I think killed itself...
Hi so my new batch of meat birds I just picked up three days ago are already looking sick. I just noticed one bird with a huge abscess looking thing on her neck like its gullet is on the outside. What in the world is going on? Two others have the same thing just milder
I got this Nigerian dwarf goat in late February early march and want to know of anyone can tell if she is pregnant or not. She had babies late December and was housed with a buck until I bought her. The buck would jump fences to get in with all the does. She has been getting a little fat lately...
There is a thread on here about how a guy made a plucker for really cheap. It was a hand drill PVC and some rubber straps. U might consider looking in to it. Not in nj but I haven't heard of plucker rentals here in Cali and we are in farm country. Just my two cents :)
Nope, u butcher rh at such a young age there really isn't a need. Just make sure to keep their coop decently clean and give them clean access to water food. Worms are usually found in feces so if u watch the cleanliness there isn't a real need for worming. Plus u don't want to injest wormer and...
I'm sure they are fine. They seem to have a herd mentality and when you show one or two how to do things the others tend to follow. I love your tractor! Do you have plans on how u made it that ur willing to share
So I am going to be experiencing with broilers but I wanted to see what everyone on here thought. What are the differences between the standards white Cornish x and the colored broilers? Is there a different taste between the two? Different temperaments? I have been raising white Cornish x birds...
I don't think it's to late but I'm new to this as well. Just processes my first batch and they were allowed continuous access to feed and forage all day. Six weeks old and they had no health problems. Only processed them because I got grossed out by the amount of flies they and the second batch...
I've had yellow skinned chickens and almost didn't eat them because it was so odd to me. Didn't realize they came in such a range of colors. I have just started skinning mine because we are not skin people and it is way less smelly
Hi
I have 6 large hens and seven three month olds. It's raining out and for some reason the babies won't go into the dog igloo that I have out or into the coop with the other chickens. What do I need to do?
