Thank you! Hopefully I can find him a home before he starts making noise, otherwise I think he'll end up as soup. Anyone who is in Austin is free to have him!
So is it just to young to crow? It just appeared in my yard last week, and i know my neighbors would be upset if it crows. Not that they try to quiet the herd of chihuahuas yapping in their yard all day. Lol.
So possibly a juvenile Roo? I'm still amazed at the non crowing and the lack of Spurs. I'm happy to give him a home, but if he starts crowing my neighbors are going to kill me.
If you click on the pic it will get larger. I haven't seen it mount one of my hens, in fact my oldest hen pecks it in the head when it tries to eat scratch. Pretty funny, Goldie's pretty dominant. I specifically don't have roosters bc I'm in the city but hey, a feral crowless rooster sounds...
That was what I thought but I haven't heard it crow and I don't see any Spurs. It arrived in my backyard about a week ago. It's pretty skittish so the pics are hard to get. I'll go try again. Thanks!!!
I've been trying but I can't seem to hold the tablet, the chicken and get the right lighting. I decided maybe it was a compacted vent, so I dabbed a Qtip in some warm water and gently swabbed its vent. Well, it squirted a bunch of poop out so I'm hoping that has relieved some of the pressure...
So they hatched this morning, 3 days late and one has what appears to be a swollen belly and something hanging out of its butt. More worried about the swelling than anything else? Do I pull it out? Leave it be? Poor little thing :(
Just did the water test. Nothing for 5 eggs. Then number 6 wiggled. "IT'S ALIVE!!!" (Fully Frankenstein style!) A few more wiggled then a few that wiggled sank, so I figured they are on their way out. Good golly I wish they would get here already, I'm still slightly convinced I killed them...
How did they turn out? Any hatch? I'm on day 21 of my first hatch and no pips yet. This is a lot more nerve racking than I thought. I'm sure I've killed them, on day 18 everything looked okay with development but still nothing.
Thanks!
