Thanks for your reply. Your Chessie is beautiful!! My husband actually found one a couple of weeks ago. We found a breeder about 2 hrs away so we were able to drive and pick him up. I'll try to get some pics up here this week.
Day 22 - I had another chick hatch this morning. The one that hatched yesterday morning is doing great. The one that had pipped yesterday morning has done nothing more. Last night before I went to bed the egg was rolling and has rolled to where I can no longer see the pip. It's been about 24...

Congrats on the little one but I wouldn't open the incubator until the rest hatch. You risk losing the humidity and might end up with shrink wrapped babies.
Ok....How long can they stay in the bator after they hatch? Today is Day 21 and this is my first hatch.
Last night about 8 pm I had a pip.....I watched it till midnight and no change. When I got up this morning I went into the basement and the one that was pipped last night had hatched. WOOHOO....my first hatch. I have another one that has pipped. I'm gonna run back home in a while and see if...
OMG....I went home at lunch to check on the eggs in the bator and I heard chirping!!!! Yes, chirping. I almost cried. Still no pips though and some of eggs were moving a bit! I just about didn't come back to work!
"come on babies....Momma is here"
Hey guys.....My DH is actively looking for a Chesapeake Bay Retriever puppy. There are very few breeders anywhere close to me on the east coast. I'm kinda leary of having a pup shipped to us. Do any of you know any breeders on the east coast. We live in the mountains of western NC right on...
Well, today is day 19 I'M IN LOCKDOWN!!!!! I'm am so excited, nervous, etc. Anyway, I took the eggs out of the turner last night and gave the little guys a good pep talk (Not to mention the prayer that was said). I thought that I would at least have a pip by now though.

You will be fine taking the top off to candle your eggs as long as you dont take a long time to do it. And by all means don't adjust the thermostat just replace the lid when your done and all will be fine, remember this is also a good time to check the water level and if any is needed...
Well, today is day 7 for me and all is well. I want to candle them but I'm worried about all of the heat escaping when I open the bator to candle the eggs. Will they be ok till the bator warms back up? How long can they go without the temp that they have become use to for the past 7 days...
Well my eggs are in the bator. Put 8 Buff Orp and 4 Black Orps in this morning. I knew that I would be excited about my first hatch but I never thought that I would be this nervous. I have called my DH every hour (since I'm at work) and asked him to check the temp and make sure that...
I put 12 eggs in the bator this morning. Like you we are expecting up to an inch of ice then possibly 6+ inches of snow after that. Luckily I have a generator that I can plug the bator in to if the power happens to go out (which it usually does!) Good luck with your eggs and lets hope and...
I set my eggs this morning.... Put 8 Buff Orp and 4 Black Orp in the bator. This will be my first time hatching myself so I'm really really nervous and more excited than I probably should be. I don't want to get my hopes up to high! Good luck to everyone!!
Amy
Thanks guys for all your help!! When I got up this morning the two digital thermometers were reading within 1 degree. I went ahead and put the eggs in the bator. This is my first hatch so I know that it cannot be perfect but I'm hoping and praying for the best!

Ok... so I received my eggs today and they have been resting comfortably since arriving in NC from PA. My plans were to put them in the bator first thing in the morning. I've had the bator running and the new digital thermometer that I just bought is reading 99.7 to 100.1 and the humidity at...
