I'm having picking/pecking issues with my flock. One 9 week old bird has died! She had the entire rear of her neck pecked out!
I have two groups of hens by age. No roosters.
I have the adults and chicks separated now. The adult picking seems to still be going on. I now have two adults...
I have a purebred imported strain English Blue Orpington rooster who is about 26 weeks old and he needs a new home.
He is a gorgeous bird and he takes care of his ladies in every way. Free to a good home with other chickens. Add some significant new genetics to your flock!

I have one Black Australorp hen who is consistently laying eggs with clusters of tiny calcific nodules on the shell. These look just like the eggs I see on the underside of leaves in my garden where bugs have laid eggs.
These are hard and seem to be made of the same materials as the shell...
Hi fellow chick-a-holics!
I'm looking for 4 or 5 hens and live midway between Atlanta and Montgomery Al. I prefer Orpingtons or Barred Rocks. Looking for pullets, not chicks.
I'm not wanting to ship due to the cold weather.
Any good advice?
Greg

As a total newbie I am having a devil of a time figuring out the gender of my 8 English Orpingtons.
They are 14 weeks old. I will start with 3 I think I know on.
First is (Aldus) Dumbledor -- Obviously I think "he" is a roo and all of my cluckers are named after Harry Potter characters.

I have a need to expand my housing complex for my ladies. Here's the scoop.
I had 4 Orpington type hens. At around 16 weeks they became a buffet for the local wildlife - while free ranging.
I built a chicken tractor for them. The only problem is I get carried away and over build things...
Hi! Here's a photo of the newest members of our family. Eight blue or possibly black Orpingtons. I'm not sure how to tell them apart at one week old.
I couldn't get all 8 to hold still!
I could either have 8 chicks in the shot or have those there in focus.
Thank you to member...
I'm so sad! I've been free ranging my four pullets. I raised them from peeps and they are/were 18 weeks old now. Two Blk Australorps and two Buff Orps.
I let them out Thursday at noon. I went out near dark as always. Every evening prior, all 4 would be in the upper coop in the communal...
Here in the heart of the Old Deep South - there are PLENTY of them Coons lurking about the ol' Hen House!
Being in UCLA ( Upper Corner of Lower Alabama ) I have had to be educated rather quickly about Coons.
Very soon after constructing my idea of the perfect Chicken Tractor (not a great...
OMG! Man the defenses!!
It all started out simply and innocently this morning. I walked the 75 yards out to my workshop. I planned to build a new door for the ongoing "Evolutionary Chicken Condo" that is taking shape out in the back of our 10 acre fenced area. It keeps changing in scope...
