This is a few week old chick from a silkie roo and light bhrama hen. Looks a little more "silkie" than some of the other photos!

Bought a "Special Assorted Bargain" and need some help with breeds!

Ok, so I went back and looked at the photos of them at 4 days old, and they both HIGHLY resemble the Golden Campine (first photo) and Silver Speckled Hamburg (second photo). I think you guys are spot on!!

Bought a "Special Assorted Bargain" and need some help with breeds!

Thanks, happyappy. That was my guess for Aggie, too. It's VERY small and VERY fast. By far, the fastest in the brooder.

Bought a "Special Assorted Bargain" and need some help with breeds!

Hi! I bought a Special Assorted Bargain of 25 (plus my extra two) from Murray McMurray and need some help figuring out the breeds! They are 6 weeks old today. There are some red-sex links, production reds, barred rocks, buffs orpingtons, and black australorps and leghorns (I think), but I've...

    Broody Chicken and her clutch

Yesterday I noticed that I didn't see one of our nine chickens, Emerald, all day. We searched the yard and under the deck, and couldn't find her. I waited until dark and went to check the coop, and when she wasn't there, I really started to worry. Later that night, my husband went outside...

We're pretty sure the brown ones are Welsummers... They looked like chipmunks when they were a few days old...

    Lets play "Name That Breed!"

They came from a hatchery and my neighnbor got them from her daughter's preschool. (They were bought to watch hatch.) She did say she thought they may have been bantam but they're much bigger than my bantam ones the same age. (Not much help, huh?)

    Lets play "Name That Breed!"

There are three white ones, although one is starting to look pretty gray... There are three brown ones that I believe are Welsummers since one of them looked like a chipmunk at a few days old... Then there are four black ones... I have NO idea on these guys! I am only assuming they are...

Bantam Barred Rock Pullet or Cockrel?

I've had a few people come by and tell me to give it time to make sure it IS a rooster... Does anyone have a photo of a 12 week old bantam barred rock pullet/rooster to share??

Bantam Barred Rock Pullet or Cockrel?

Hi! I need some help determining the sex of "Pearl". I got all of my chickens from local breeders, but we got pearl from the local Farm and Home Supply. Although they told me she was a hen, I'm starting to doubt it. She is now 12 weeks old, and is starting to crow, I think? Here's some...

    SILKIES. Male or Female

I am interested in buying this silkie I found on craigslist. I cannot have any roos where I live, so I'm hoping it's a hen! Any ideas??

What kind of Bantam chick is this?

Thanks so much for your help. They definitely have yellow legs, with some dark shading on the front. Looks like a single comb, too. One looks to have white feathers with small black stripes, and one appears to have black feathers with small white stripes. From your descriptions, I think...

What kind of Bantam chick is this?

I am pretty sure it's a single comb... Would I be able to tell at three weeks? Maybe the other option is a cuckoo marans?

What kind of Bantam chick is this?

I bought these two over the weekend at our local Farm and Fleet. They are bantams, and she said they came from an assorted bunch, so not sure of the breed... Anyone have any ideas? Barred Rock or Dominique? Although the photo doesn't show it, they are almost identical in color, although it...

Beginning a flock with mixed ages?

I'm new to chickens, and yesterday I bought a coop and two three-week-old bantams. I was looking to get two more chicks the same age. BUT, in the meantime, I got a call from a friend with a 1-year-old Barred Rock who recently lost his three flock mates and she'd love me to take her. I am in...
