I have a couple egg eaters that I'm trying to curb their bad behavior. However, this morning I went to collect eggs and there were maggots swimming in one. :-( I collect eggs every day, but had been out of town yesterday. How do I kill any leftover maggots so they don't cause even more problems?
We just got our first two bantam cochins this year. They were started and the male has been crowing for a couple weeks. I put some other bantams in the brooder with them (we are building a bigger coop so I can keep the bantams separate from the standard size chickens we have) and the rooster...
I think I posted it, but in case not. We got 8 chicks out of 22 eggs. One passed away after a couple hours, so our current total is 7, but 8 technically hatched
Of my 22 eggs I hatched 8, but one only lasted a few hours. It was much smaller then the rest. 3 of my 10 shipped Marans hatched and 5 of my 12 from the local school hatched
i have my eighth egg zipping right now, but when it's done how do you tell which eggs still are viable. Do I even bother? Day 21 was Saturday at noon for me.

Have 14 eggs in lockdown and 2 are moving now and then. The anticipation is killing me!! The 2 that are moving Marans we had shipped. Can't wait and hoping we have a successful hatch! This is our first ever!!
Candled tonight and I'm down to 14. 9 out of 12 from our local school and 5 out of 10 on my mix of Marans. Really hoping they all hatch, but we will see!
I am so excited. I was running low on room for the chicks I already have. I'm raising 14 for a family that lives on a farm and doesn't have the best of luck getting them old enough to lay because something always gets them as chicks. So since I raised some for others last year, she asked...
