I'll add to the anecdotal evidence on DE. I recently took our Doberman to get her yearly check up. She was worm-free and heartworm free with no wormer, no heartworm preventative for over a year. She was spending 2/3 of the day outside, every day in coastal South Carolina. Mosquito population...
I agree with Gritsar. And I am so sorry you lost one of your girls.
My doberman got off her run line a few weeks ago and killed my number one Blue Ameraucana cockeral. I was glad she was already scheduled to go stay with my husband to keep him company where he works in another state. I was SICK!
I have never incubated. Not set up for it. I only had 5 full grown hens this summer. 1 went broody twice. 2 others at the same time. They were raising their chicks when my number 4 went broody. My poor number 5 hen never went broody and never got a break from the roo! None have been broody for...
Thank you for your input. Both of you.
And yeah, I think Chanticleer is a really good looking roo. Whatever he is. He is a good roo also.
He takes good care of his hens and has perfect manners with people. I have never had to correct him for his behavior.
Second roo in charge is his son who...

Thank-you!! I am so happy about this. I hear nothing but good things of bishopschicken's Barred Rocks. I feel I really lucked up on the timing. I hope HennyPenny is a good mom. She has never gone broody before.
The Barred Rock eggs came in today from bishopschicken!!! They look great and are VERY well packed Bubble wrapped in an egg carton and packed in wood shavings. I can't post pictures because my batteries are charging for the camera.
And I have already got them in a fresh nest for Henny Penny and...

I know how you feel. I finally figured out just recently how to post pictures here. And I hate to say it, but even though I did it, I can't tell you how to do it.
It has something to do with going into the "uploads" option at the top of the pages (Index;Userlist;Rules;etc.)
But if you...
Well, I hope I have solved this issue. I checked out the (eggs for sale or trade) category and I found barred rock eggs available immediately (been wanting some anyway) and they were shipped this morning from bishopschickens.
Henny Penny is still full broody. When I get the fresh eggs, I'll...
