Hi, this is the poor little one (2 weeks old) who was kicked in the head by a scratching chicken. She has another wound on the other side of her head. (Most of the colour is iodine, there is no bleeding). She was hurt Sunday afternoon, it is now Tuesday evening. While she is a little better, I...
Hi all,
our week old chicks were out with Mum and flock and it looks like she was kicked in the head while they were scratching around. She has a wound on either side if her head. She is still breathing but just lying there with her eyes closed.
Should we try to save her and is there...
We gave our frizzle 3 babies last night, all seemed well, but whenever they come out from under her she is pecking them. Is this tough love or hasn't she accepted them? If she hasn't I will take them away from her.
Hi all,
We gave our broody sizzle 3, 3 day old chicks last night. While all seems to be well I am concerned that it is lunchtime the next day and as far as I know they haven't eaten or had a drink.
I put food and water in the enclosure and Mum is appreciating it, but babies are still tucked...
My frizzle is acting very strangely. She is a very friendly easy-going girl. She started sitting for 3 or 4 days then got off the nest. She was a bit off colour so I treated her and the rest of the girls and the coop for mites and she's perked right up again.
Yesterday she was sitting on the...
I think Sizzle is dying, and I don't know why. She has gone downhill in the last 48 hours. She came out this morning but just stood around looking miserable. She did eat a couple of pieces of tomato, her favourite treat.
Her comb and face is a dull grey colour. I have dusted her in case of...
Peep and Cheep (Wyandottes) are 5 weeks old and cute as li'l buttons. At what age is it safe to put wormer in the water and delouse the other girls and the bedding? I also usually put a splash of apple cider vinegar in the water, is it safe to do this at their age?
My Gold broody Wyandotte accepted 2 chicks about a week ago, but sadly 1 died, so we got 2 more for her. These are a bit bigger than the chick she has as they are a different breed. We popped them under her last night same as before, but she won't accept them and is pecking them.
I have them...
We recently lost our black australorp chicken. See photo above. As you can see her comb went black and floppy she just sat around and despite bringing her inside and nursing her my husband had to put her out of her misery. Now it looks like my Sussex is going the same way! I wormed them last...
