Bantams not going in coop at night...

Just wanted to update the thread. The chickens finally started going up on their own. We recently had some really stormy weather and I think the rain finally coaxed them to figure it out...lol.

Bantams not going in coop at night...

Thanks for the response. They seem to get down fine in the morning, but they kind of jump out instead of walking down the ramp. However, I do see them perched half way up the ramp sometimes. I tried moving them in before dark, but they are very flighty and don't particularly like handling...

Bantams not going in coop at night...

Just introduced my four bantams into their chicken ark last weekend. So far they have not entered the upper interior portion at night. They typically huddle up in a corner of the run. I started placing them inside the coop at night and closing the ramp in hopes they will catch on. So far no...

A-Frame Coop, Bantam Chickens, and NJ Winters...

Hello everyone. Just ordered my first chickens a few weeks ago, all bantams ( 2 Plymouth Rocks, 2 Easter Eggers, 2 Welsummers). They are scheduled to ship the week of April 6th. I just started looking at coops and I really like the A-frame style, particularly the Catawba coop. However, I had...

So as they get older they become more detached?

Bummer, oh well I wasn't going to hatch out just a single duck. He would have been awfully lonely while I was at work all day. As much as it pains me, I guess they are better off this way...lol.

So as they get older they become more detached?

As hatchlings and juveniles my call ducklings followed every footstep I made. Loved being picked up and just hung out in my lap. There around 3 months now and pretty much ignore me for the most part, unless I have food...lol. They still will follow me, but only if something scares them. They...

Anyone fancy a guess at the sex of these ducklings from the video?

Took a quick video of my call ducks following me around. The larger one is over 6 weeks and the smaller two are clutch mates and around 5 weeks. I hear a difference in their quacks but can't really tell if its male or female. Video

What age can ducklings stay outside 24/7

Well its morning and temps are 61F (stupid weather channel), but they seem fine. Still swimming around in their pool. I was up till around 1 and they never got out to sit under the brooder even in the lower than expected temps. So I assume they have no issues with being out in the 60s. My...
