    My Cornish X experiment

Sometimes, less is more. I have been raising free range chickens for 30 years and found that the Cornish Roaster is great for free range growing. Also, once you get them past the danger stage of heart attacks and leg problems(which are less common in the roaster) you can breed them with the dark...

    Decrowing Roosters.

I support you completely in this matter. Given the choice of putting one of my best breeding roosters in the freezer just because of some over zealous noise ordinance, or decrowing them, I am all for the de-crow. They de-bark some sled dogs in Alaska when one is born that, some some reason...

    Decrowing Roosters.

I am a great advocate of de-barking dogs. I know it was a rhetorical question but the surgery has saved the lives of many chrnic barkers that would have ended up dead due to noise ordinances. It is completely justified.

    Decrowing Roosters.

Yeah it's a bad plan, in theory. But my passion for recreating my lost "Alaskan Homesteader" breed outweighs my common sense. I am, however curious about something you said concerning shipping my roosters off to be killed. As I mentioned, I am from Alaska and we don't have those kind of...

    Decrowing Roosters.

That's wonderful news! I have to get rid of my rooster, because he is very loud and I live in the city where the houses are close. I bought 2 lots and fenced them in totally with 7 ft solid wood fence. I am buying the 2 lots next door and will fence it in, then plant fast growing hemlock bushes...

    Decrowing Roosters.

I really agree with you whole heartedly. I am trying to re-create a breed of chicken I developed in Fairbanks Alaska called the Alaskan homesteader, but now I love in 1/8 acre in the city. 7ft privacy fence and lots of trees. Perfect for chickens. Mine are illegal, and the roosters are going to...

    Decrowing Roosters.

I am seriously interested in having some of my rooster decrowed. I live in the city(hens only...which is really frustrating) and am recreating a breed of chicken I developed in Fairbanks Alaska 20 years ago called the Alaskan Homesteader. I have to sell or butcher my best males and I hate it...
