Most of the girls are a about 2 and about five of them are older and probably don't lay much anymore... The most eggs we have gotten is 12 in a day but in the last 3 days we got 2 then 4 and then nothing today. No changes, they are fenced into 1 acre and sometimes we let them totally free range...
No pips on the other two eggs and she won't get off of the nest to take her 4 day old to eat or drink. So do I remove the other eggs? I have an incubator... do I move the other two eggs inside. Is there a way to tell if they are viable? I don't want the baby to starve.

I can't get rid of the coyotes. I am losing chickens weekly. Can't seem to get a clear shot and wonder if I should spend $300 fencing or try this?
So its been a crazy week. Sitting in the backyard while the chickens free ranged a coyote ran right by me and took a Silkie. I ran inside for the gun and he grabbed one of my big girls... etc etc. anyway I wanted to replace my chicks lost to the bald eagle and coyote over the last couple of...

So I have 7 nine week old Chicks, leghorn, RIR and misc and 5 Silkies that are about 5 weeks old. The older ones have been going out since 5 weeks. I have a trap door that I open to the coop to let them free range during the day and close at night. The coop is divided in half with the silkies...
Litteraly 3 feet from the coop was what I thought was a deer but when I stopped and looked out the kitchen window again I realized it way a Coyote. It was 3pm and sunny. I screamed and took off out the back door like a mad woman in my bare feet. The coyote froze, looked at the chickens, (who...
I live in a little hick town and we lost power last night around 5pm after finding out it was 4 counties wide and it was going to be awhile I freaked. My babies are only three days old and no heat. Of course we have no heat in the house either. I went out and got them and brought them inside in...
