    Adding geese to our flock?

Hi all! I've been thinking of adding one or two geese to our flock. Currently we have 4 Rouens, one drake, and 8 chickens. We've also had broad breasted white turkeys, deciding we would get heritage breed in the spring so we don't have a deadline to harvest them. Compared to other birds, how do...

Review by '' on item 'Rouen'

After a year with our chickens and a month with our BBW turkeys, my husband suprised me with four rouen babies for my birthday. I decided on the breed because they weren't heavy layers, and were considered a calm breed. I could be happier! I ended up with three ducks and one handsome drake. They...

    Rouen Duck thread

I've had my rouens for 26 weeks now, and still no eggs. Could this just be due to the season and lack of sunlight?

    Turkeys and chickens together

We have our four BBW turkeys, almost 3 months old now, with our 5 chickens. They get along pretty well, one chicken will pick on the turkeys and even though they are double, almost triple the chickens size they just run away from them. The turkeys will go into the chickens coop (they have...

    Rouen drake?

This is my first batch of ducks. They are almost a month old and while I know that's still early to determine sex, I can't help but ask. I noticed only one of my 'gals' starting to get white on their neck, possible drake ring!? They were all straight runned so I'm praying for a drake!

    Londonderry, NH?

My husband and I currently have 5 chickens on the south shore in MA. We have a run for them and occasionally let them free range the yard. We're looking at purchasing a house in Londonderry, NH but after some research we see that there's a 2 acre rule per the town, but no maximums. So you could...

    Not laying in nesting box

FIRST EGG!! So one of my hens finally started laying!! She is the first of 5. However, she keeps laying under the dropping board instead of in the nesting boxes. I have golf balls in the boxes but she doesn't seem to care. What should I do to have her transition into the boxes?

    Updated 6/15

Okay, so I am guessing these -hopefully all- gals are around 4-5 weeks, not all the same age. Just looking for opinions on breed and gender. Lil Red and Chippy have slate-ish colored legs, Chicken has black and orange feathered legs, and everyone else has orange. I think Nugget might be our...

    Chicken Noob. **5/29 Update

So it looks like its only been a week since I posted, but these guys are changing so much everyday! I just wanted to put up some updated pictures. I'm guessing these guys - hopefully all gals - are around 3 weeks now judging by their feathering? Still probably too early to sex but any leads on...

    Chicken Noob. **5/29 Update

Okay so I got 5 chicks the other day. This will be our first ever batch of chickens! I'm super excited. I don't know if they are hens or roosters yet because we just got them from a friend of a friend and they were a mix (don't worry, we can give the roosters back). I was wondering what breeds...
