I have been fighting with a similar issue for 2 months now....first my chickens started sounding like they had whooping cough, I treated with fenbendozole...then they got upper respiratory congestion so I treated with erythromycin. As soon as they came off the antibiotics they became worse...
Hey Drake,
A Paint can be registered as a Pinto but a Pinto cannot be registered as a Paint. Paint is either a Quarter Horse or Registered Paint. PInto is a color not a breed. So your Paint is either a QH or a Paint and my Pinto is actually a 7/8 Arab. Hope that clarified things for you...
Hey Drake,
So cool...almost like looking at my two. My Arab is a pinto not a paint but they look a lot alike. Is your buckskin a mare or gelding? Sheila
I don't have minis or mules but I do have a QH mare and a 7/8 Arab Pinto. I do English/jumping/dressage and western trail riding. The Arab (Harley, named after my God father) goes both and the QH (Dixie's Lena or Cat as we call her) is just starting reining. At the moment I am laid up having...
Just when I thought my new coop and run were close to complete....the horses and goats decided to wreck the run! Guess I will have to figure out another plan...would have thought double wire would have deterred them but it did not. At this rate I will have to sell a thousand eggs to pay for...
Another Vancouver Islander here and another who has lost 1 hen and 4 roosters in the last 18 months...plus one very lucky hen who managed to make it under the fence into the neighbours' hedge. Almost every morning I go out to feed and there is one sitting in a tree watching...one morning I had...
You will probably have more of a problem getting it to move down the tube than a problem with it running out. I have a U shaped feeder made with 4" PVC pipe on either end, approx. 30" high and an 18" piece of pipe with 5 - 2" holes across the bottom. 90 degree corners. I find I occasionally...
Could I suggest you look into Chantecler chickens. They are the only true Canadian breed. They were bred by friars in Quebec and have traits that are good for cold Canadian climates They are good winter layers and do well in the cold climate. I would suggest you avoid birds with large combs...
My goats browse on scrubby pasture (hoping they will improve it) that is full of African daisies, during spring/summer. I supplement the browse with local grass hay, available at all times and goat text. The goat text is made locally and is non GMO. I also give them treats from the garden in...
I started my "herd" this last spring. I did my research for this area and the two breeds/crosses that appear to be the best for sale are Nubian/Boer crosses and Boer's. I have two Nubian/Boer cross does, one pure Boer doe and her twin brother (a wether). I have a pure Boer buckling reserved...
Had a young couple come over to get some plums from my over abundant trees and he asked about buying eggs. I gave him the price and then said, "I will tell you now that the eggs may be fertilized." His response after a blank stare was "you put manure on them?" Was all I could do not to laugh...
Thanks for the input Sylvester, Just so you know, I have no desire to get turkeys, never liked them much except when they are on the table. I already have goats, and yes they have broken into my hen house 3 times already, I now have that problem taken care of. As they say, if your fences will...
Hi all,
Yesterday a great friend call and said he had some decks he had to get rid of. So I immediately dropped everything and went to see them, being the scrounger that I am. My friend then offered to build me a new chicken coop and a new goat shed and deliver them with his crane truck...
