chick with injured leg - advice please

Approximately 8 week old silkie is limping/fluttering when she attempts to move around, but she's mostly sitting behind the waterer. I lost my grip on her 4 days ago and she fell onto the garage floor. She's staying quite still most of the time, but when she does move, she's trying to...

    Orpingtons! All Roos?

That's what I thought. I just wanted to confirm before I sent them off to a new home. I had separated the girls (hopefully).

    Orpingtons! All Roos?

Oh yeah, there was a feather picker in the pen. That's why several of them look rough.

Really? The first two are crele orps from a reputable local breeder. That's disappointing.

    September Hatch-A-Long

I'm going at it again. I think I'll still be in the running for a September hatch. I'm getting some silkies and frizzles. But I need to figure out what went wrong with my last 2 eggs. They pipped internally and died. I wish I had tried to help sooner!

    September Hatch-A-Long

See the egg in the pic that was partially unzipped? I ended up having to assist the hatch. It stayed just like that for 8 hours. It was so nerve wracking! The little guy appears to be fine though. Now I'm worried about the other two...I opening the incubator a dozen times yesterday to help that...

    FERMENTED FEEDS...anyone using them?

Any tips for chicks on FF? My babies are a week old, and I give them some every day, but they trample it until it's like concrete. I always end up scraping it up to break it apart and adding some dry chick starter to keep everything crumbly. My FF tends toward the dry side anyway.

What is the role of hard boiled eggs in preventing/ treating coccidiosis? I have seen it mentioned a few times.

The Natural Chicken Keeping thread - OTs welcome!

This is such an interesting discussion. We've had some similar ones recently in my local FB chicken group. In our area, testing for sick birds costs $50, plus the cost of overnight shipping or travel to the facility (it would be a 3 hour round trip for me)...time/cost prohibitive for most. Our...
