I have 2 NHREDS and 2 EE and 1 of each bread is now laying an egg a day. I guess it will be fried or scrambled for breakfast and egg salad sandwichs for lunch !
Give them shelled sunflower seeds they will go bonkers also they love strawberries so much so I have not eaten an unmolested one in my patch for 2 months!
Yes and real butter,my NHRED hen has been laying for 10 days now and her older sister by one week laid her first this morning, now my Ameracauna sisters are 22 weeks old and no eggs yet. I hope to get 2 dozens eggs a week!
5 by 5 by 3ft deep,18 inches high underneath for added space. It will 4 birds just right. I finished the underneath section today and they love the shade under there.
Hangover mondays. Thanks for the input, they will have under the coop once I configure a slide in feed and water box also I will build a larger fenced in enclosure so I can let them out in the evening. They do enjoy their evenings ripping my garden to shreads! I moved my other bird in the left...
My NHRed girl started laying a week and a half ago and the last few days she has decided to fly out of her 6 foot run in the morning to go in the garden and lay her egg in private, I found her in my green onion patch hunkered down low squatting. She layed a nice egg and came out doing the egg...
Yes the one who is a week older grew them 3 weeks ago and they are getting big and red,she is the one already laying. The other started about 2 weeks ago and they are getting bigger every day.I think she will start laying any day now.
My 17 week old NHRED laid 3 perfect eggs in a row and then 2 thin shelled egg farts within the same day.She then took one day off laying and has laid 2 perfect eggs since. It will take their young systems a while to get on track and a regular patern.
Mine love zucchini I slice in half and they eat all the way to the skin, they get laer feed all they want as well. Also they tear up my strawberry beds when I am not looking.
I have 2 NHR and I wouldn't give them up for any amount of money, the younger one 18 weeks has just started laying and they are friendly easy to train etc.She has laid 6 eggs in 6 days so I think that is good. The other is a week older and I think she will start laying any day.
My NHRED who just starting laying had a white looking vent area like calcium from the egg she layed that day, also she would squat down and you could see her trying to push out the egg.Just watch them and you can figure it out.
