    Black Swedish duck feather color?

    We have six Swedish ducks, 8 wks old or so, & are trying to figure out which are drakes. There are 2 that have a louder "quack" but they still sound sort of raspy. The others have a very raspy sound with not much of a quack to them "yet." Does bill color, feather color, or anything else help...

    Yes, they are Swedish Blue, but two are Blacks. One parent was Blue & the other was Black. And I guess the Blue's often have blacks? Anyway, Barnyard Betty I love Splash! Was thinking of naming one of ours Splash, but might have to re-think! Can't have two Splashes on here! LOL!

    We just brought home 6 Swedish ducklings & they are SO cute! They are in the brooder right now, & we are trying to handle them as much as we can so they are friendly. Right now they are pretty skiddish. This is my first time posting, so I'll see if I can post a picture too... the light one...

    Intervention: Helping Your Chicks Hatch

    Hello from Maine! On our 2nd attempt to hatch chicks - 1st round 8 of 14 eggs had chicks but none even pipped. Now have 11 of 14 w/ chicks, 1st pipped & got about 1" of shell poked & then died, 2nd is heading that way. I've gotten shell broken away but we obviously have a humidity problem...
