One rooster and four hens...don't want babies...

And roosters I believe are illegal in the city of Phoenix. But, we love Henry our rooster. He is a silky bantam and is full of personality. This May sound cruel but can you take away a roosters voice box and have him "fixed". We can sell him we have grown so attached and are afraid he might...

Moving the chicks outside. But we live in Phoenix and it is early July.

We got into this chick situation much like a teenage pregnancy. Wasn't prepared and flying by the seat of our pants. We have five chicks who are about a month old. They are getting big and fiesty. Now, we are taking them outside at least twice a day to move around but they are getting harder...

    Two enough?

We started out with five baby chicks and sadly lost three. The two remaining seem to be doing well and are about 3 1/2 weeks old. Are two enough, for socializing reasons? I really dont' want anymore (my kids would!) but want to do what is best for them.

    Baby chicks dying!!! Help!

Not really, But I don't know that I would know what to look for. They did seem more sleepy and have less energy than before. That really doesn't sound helpful. We are in unchartered territory here.

    Baby chicks dying!!! Help!

We somehow ended up with five baby chickens with no preparation. They have been with us a little over a week and are about 2-3 weeks old. They are in a clean space with a heat lamp, have medicated feed, a probiotic and electrolyte solution added to their water and are getting one hard boiled...

One of our five new chicks is doing very poorly...

We are very new to this and brought home five baby chicks on Sunday. They are all thriving except for the one who was always the smallest. He clearly is not growing where the others are and is really slowing down. They all had the pasty butt problem, which we have tried to be on top of but...
