Hi, I am once again starting from scracth(chicken scracth). I raised chickens as a child on a small hobby farm with my parents andsiblings west of Janesville, Wi. We had ducks and geese and chickens along with goats and I even had a pony. In about 2006 I got a few chicks. I live near Madison...
Hi, I Have questions about hatching Mallard duck eggs. I witnessed a Female duck get spooked out of her nest and two red tailed Hawks teamed up on her and got her. I looked under the bush from which she came and sure enough 12 eggs. I carefully took them into my warm car and drove to Farm &...

Thank you,
I will sent picture if I...
I have heard that calls need the most help. They have the shortest necks and beaks and need the most help when hatching. There heads are also too round for hatching. Not That I am telling you something new.
I used news paper after the first week. It seemed to be fine and my chickens are now three years old. Only two out of 4 are still laying( one was sexed wrong at the hatchery) but we are going to keep them until they get old and passaway from old age. I wouldn't think that the papper towel...
My chicks always love dry oatmeal out of my hand. I have to wear a glove now that they are older. It has to be the same glove or one that looks like the one they have gotten used to. If I try to use another they run away from it.
Ok thanks, I was getting alittle depressed when I thought they were all dead. Wow, these little guys can drive you batty can't they. I work at a nursing home as an aide. I had told all the old ladies about the ducks at work. I was hoping to take the ducks in to show them off. How many days...
