I currently have a broody hen. If she sticks to it, her eggs will be hatching in 17 days. When they hatch they will be in the coop with the mother hen and the other laying hens. What food would i feed them? I know that chicks should be fed starter food, but my laying hens need layer feed?

She is either molting or being pecked. She is defiantly a Red Sex Link because i had them before and they look just like your hen. :)

I thought about doing that but i am leaving for a 4th of July vacation soon and I'm not sure if she is going to stick to it and not give up. Do you think she will be okay for a few days in the coop until i get back? She has only been sitting for about 2 days.

This is either a Rhode Island Red or a Red Sex Link.

I have never had one of my hens go broody until now. She is in the coop nest box because i dont have anywhere else for her. What do i do if her eggs hatch? Where do i put her and/or her chicks?
