What i have noticed if the chick is raised by a hen the chick is more wild then raising in a brooder. when raised in a brooder the chick sees you as the mom .
Thanks for the reply, i did remove one egg that was hatching and gave it to another hen but i don't think it is going to make it. I' ll keep an eye on him.
My avitar has the rooster in it. So i looked at feather sexing and i have one with all even flight feathers and four with uneven flight feather. I have two more hens go broody on me so they are sitting on three eggs each, hopefully i can get more hens.
You can try the switcheroo, in the evening go out there with the chicks and pull the eggs out and but the babies in. Come moring she should be acting like she hatched them. Need to keep a close eye the first couple of days to make sure she accepts them.
He is still young, give him some time say two to three weeks there with the hens but seperated so they can see each other. Remember you just got him he needs time to acclimatize to his new home and a new flock.
