Look what we found in our coop 2 nights ago! It's a cooper hawk, we think. He was in the area we have sectioned off for our aloha chicks. NONE of them were harmed. I think he got in the main coop,my big BRS started squawking,and he freaked out. His head was bloody from trying to get...

Here are a couple pics of my batch of 13. A lot of variety so far. I'll try to post pictures occasionally so you can see how they are coming along. All healthy and feisty. We have bets on number of roosters. ..3,6,7,or 13?
Don't worry, I would never do that! I can't even eat them for dinner, I certainly wouldn't put them in harms way intentionally. That's why I'm in this conundrum! I'm just thinking I might have to give them to someone even if they are planning to eat them.
@K9Dave
Thanks for the thought anyway. Someone told me if I throw them over the phoenix zoo fence they will feed them to the Lions. Would that count as a donation? Tax write off? NO... I'm not thinking about doing it, but I am feeling desperate. Who would have thought adopting 3 chicks from my...
Not yet. .. chaos at our house. .. my husband's grandma passed last week and unfortunately the roosters are at the bottom of the list. I just don't know if I can handle the screening process right now. I might have to risk a fine by the city for now and delay until I have the time and composure.
Help! Still have my 2 roosters, 1 aloha and one RIR. Any takers? Anyone know anyone? City sent notice they need to be gone by tomorrow. .. my girls are adamant they not be eaten. .. any suggestions?
Help! I still have my roosters. ..1 aloha and one that looks like a Rhode Island red. I got a notice from the city that they have to be gone by tomorrow. Looks like they might have to be someone's dinner. :( my girls will freak. Any suggestions?
Hi all. I'm still trying to find a home for my smallest aloha rooster. He is friendly, hand raised, hand fed, and picked up and petted daily. I'm going to try keeping the RIR rooster for a while. I hope he crows less with the other 2 gone. I think they just compete with each other.
Any chance anyone wants a free, small sized, aloha rooster? Hand raised, not aggressive. He does crow a lot, not sure if that's because he is having a contest with the other 2 roosters. He dances around me, but I handle that. He has never attacked me or my kids or my hens. He is on the bottom...
Is there a way to delete a post? I forgot to quote someone...so I came to edit this, but can't figure out how to delete...so, I posted another message below with my quote.
Unfortunately, no I haven't gotten rid of them. They just keep getting louder.
MrsFitzDarcy, if you want to drive up, I will give you a rooster. ;) They seem to be fine in the heat. I have mine in a coop with shade cloth and misters and they also run free in a large area. They like to sit in...
Hi all, I am Tanya. I am new to chickens and to BYC. I adopted 3 chicks from my daughter's kindergarten class in May that all turned out to be Roosters. I think 2 of them are Aloha's. The school is Madison Simis, and the teacher told me that she was told they were Aloha chickens. I think one of...
