the light is just not on a nail. It is on a round hook and the light has been altered to have no way to escape. It only comes on at 5:00am until 8:00am. I looked under the coop and NO eggs. I think they are eating all the corn as when I stir the feed they only like it when the corn is there. I will remove it from the next batch I mix. I have not looked under the coop yet. I did find some in the run once, but only once.

I feed them layer food mixed with cleaned cracked corn. I have not seen any evidence of eggs being eaten. I do let free range on 1 acre a day all day until I get home. I am wondering now if I have to walk the acre. Could it be?

yes only egg in nest box. My buff orps are not quite a year. I have the a RR that I think is doing all the laying only. I can't wait till there is more. I bought all the chicks at Orschelen's this spring so maybe a little longer and things will pick up. I have to be optimistic!!!

Cargo, I took a look at your BYC page and you have a nice coop as well. Nice looking birds. Out of all my birds I seem to only be getting one egg a day. Hopefully someday more will come.

Thank you. You both have tugged at my heart strings this morning. thechickenchick you are from the state I was born in and some family still resides and Cargo you are from the state I call home. I was raised in Toledo Oregon almost my entire life. Want to go back to each some day soon.
