Well here is the great update. sadie the hen is up taking nourishment and feeling much better. She is sleeping quietly. I think we can expect a full recovery!!

Thanks so much for the response. She is refusing food and water for the moment. I know she had plenty of both this morning. Her crop is still very full. She does stand up ocassionally but is very lethargic. She seems to be alert when she has her eyes open. We have her in a basket with a blanket...

we are just beginning to enjoy our hen's egg production. We are getting about 12 a day. They are great with one exception. We can't peel the hard boiled eggs. It is almost impossible to get the shell separated from the whites. Any ideas?
I have two new cochins that I have had quaranteed for two weeks. I would like now to introduce them to the main flock. How do I keep the others from attacking and pecking them. The flock consists of RI reds, orpingtons, barred rocks, and americanas. All about 6 mo. old
