    When you suggest meat scraps, I assume chicken would be bad ;-) Are there any types of meats that are better than others? I know their favorite is frogs but they seem to have hidden for the winter.

    So my chickens started molting in September and finished in October. New feathers are all in. Only problem is they decided to take the winter off. I guess I can live with that. Question; Should I adjust their food or stop the layer feed and switch to something else until they decide its time...

  11. The egg on the right is the store bought. It was watery pale and little taste. It was so watery that it spread out in most of the pan. The freshly laid egg held tightly together during cooking, and had a very bright orange/yellow yolk. The fresh egg was the taste winner, hands down.

    Wireless Thermometers

    I was thinking of getting a weather station( AcuRite Weather Environment System 01056) that will support extra sensors via Wi-Fi and putting a temp/humidity sensor in the coop. Any thoughts? Thanks, PH

    Preparing Your Flock & Coop for WINTER

    6x6x9 greenhouse from Harbor Freight. I put their coop inside along with a banana tree and various potted flower. Planning on adding a tv and bed, wife says I may be living out there with them soon.
