    Penciled/Pied Call Ducklings!!! + 1 Crested!!

Thanks! It's also the friendliest and craves attention. The first picture was probably 2 days after he hatched. He's the largest of the bunch right now! xD I'm going to try and get some good pictures of Bently. I think she might be a good show candidate! Her beak is wide and short and she's...

    Penciled/Pied Call Ducklings!!! + 1 Crested!!

This is Mercades - the first crested call I've ever hatched! And here's the 4 calls I hatched out almost 2 weeks ago. From left to right we have Mercades, Gizmo, Pebbles and Bently! Gizmo, Pebbles and Bently are pied or penciled calls. I'm not sure what the proper term is. But Gizmo has...

I think i might be in a spot

She is definitely a rouen. Her body shape and the lines on her face say it all. =] I've had some really light rouens that could fly just as well as my mallards. She /should/ get heavier with age. Most of the time, only the real SQ rouens get absolutely huge.

Call duckling seems to be having problems...

Thanks so much! I'll get some of that today. =] I do have a question about helping the hard waste out. Can you feel it as your stroking the duckling's belly? How do you know the duckling is clear?

Call duckling seems to be having problems...

My 4 little calls are 2 days old now and the 2 smaller ones have perked up and look amazing! =] The first duckling to hatch acts sort of strange though. It walks very bowl-legged and seems to kind of walk on its tippy-toes. It pushes most of its weight forward when it walks. It also has a...

Ducklings still have cords and round bellies!!!

I had 4 call ducklings hatch out today. 2 are doing amazing and the other 2 sleep much more and seem to be slow. I looked at their bellies and their cords are still hanging out and their bellies are round and out. What do I do???

    Lost Power!! :(

Went to grandma's today to check on the eggs. I swear I heard a peep while examining the eggs!! And one egg moved quiet a bit; almost 180 degrees around. So they're still alive, but from what I could see without opening the bator no pips yet. These guys are making me nervous!

    day 30 -

What breed are they? Are you incubating them in an incubator or under a hen? If it's in an incubator, don't open the lid anymore to candle them. The humidity drops like crazy when you do and it could cause the babies to get shrink wrapped inside the egg. Just keep the humidity up and wait. =]...

    Lost Power!! :(

I've been in lockdown for 3 days. I really hope the move didn't shrink wrap them... When I moved them I had them wrapped in a wash cloth that had been soaked in warm water and I put them in a box with Styrofoam packing peanuts. We filled the incubator with warm water all the way to the brim...

    Lost Power!! :(

We lost power yesterday and it was day 25 for my call duck eggs. We quickly packed up the eggs and the bator and went to my Grandmother's house who has power. We set everything up and I gave her instructions on how to keep the humidity up and what to do if they start to hatch...I really hope...

New to duck hatching...please help me here??

Wow, Ladybug, you and I are in the same boat! lol I just went into lockdown with 4 out of 9 shipped call duck eggs. I would try to get the humidity a little higher. Try putting a wet sponge into the incubator or spraying water in through a vent hole. Call ducks seem to need more humidity than...

Call duck's first egg? Is this possible?

Yeah my calls started laying around 6 months at the earliest, but my gray didn't start laying until almost 9 months. They're very very beautiful!! I have call ducklings due very soon (this or next week) and I really hope I get a pied!!

Call duck's first egg? Is this possible?

It actually could be a runner egg especially if it's large. When I had runners I would get a white egg every once and awhile.
