    Silkie Splash Rooster-Very gentle boy!

I am moving to the city, so I can no longer keep my baby boy. Some roosters can get mean (I have had them) but this guy is very sweet. He takes care of his ladies, and is not aggressive to people at all. He would be great for breeding, I just hatch 5 of the 6 eggs I wanted, so yes he is a father...

Lice/mite eggs. Need help for a new mommy hen

My Silkie just had a clutch of 5 sweet babies. Under all the stress she lost face feathers, and now has this white stuff on her face. I'm afraid to take her away from her 10 day old babies (all the babies I just try treating for mites that were on them moving with poultry spray). Though I...

My Silkie eggs are Hatching under my broody, some advice please!

Klantas:: I have a rooster and for the 1st hatch I tried keeping them together and it was no good! My roo would climb over the eggs and mount my hen while she was trying to to incubate them. So bad idea to keep them together!! I made a "make-shift" maternity ward in my coop. I just took 1/2...

My Silkie eggs are Hatching under my broody, some advice please!

My Silkie just hatched 4 of the 6 eggs I let her incubate. There were 2 eggs that she left at the nest, one was piped internally... I could hear the chick chirping... so what I did was put the egg in a box with pine shavings and my red light.....and about 2 hours later my fiance and I...

My Silkie eggs are Hatching under my broody, some advice please!

Thanks for the advice!! I poked my head in there tonight and I saw 2 more cute little dry babies come out to say hi. They are so small and adorable! I will let mommy do her thing until she is ready to leave the nest. Can't wait to officially meet these little babies!

My Silkie eggs are Hatching under my broody, some advice please!

My Silkie is hatching a small clutch. I poked my head in the maternity ward I made her tonight (it's day 21) and I saw a sweet little yellow face chick poke it's head out from her belly...super excited!! I'm wondering how long I have to wait to intervene, and when I allowed to hold the babies...

    Silkie Hatch Lockdown help?

I have a partridge silkie who is on a clutch right now and toward the end of next week will be nearing the end of the 21 days. (I finally understand the "day 0" of the whole 21 days by the way). This sweet momma hen to be is so committed to have babies that I have to pull her off the eggs once...

Ok well tonight I did what you recommended, thanks again for the help I am learning so much from BYC I love you guys! I pulled out all the eggs and candled them again. Turns out they all had a very strange smell, like a hard boiled egg, perhaps that meant they were bad? But I went ahead and...

    No Hatch yet help!

Thanks all for your help. The advice was what I needed! Today marks day 23. I checked on them this morning and no babies yet. The sad thing is I swear I heard some chirps on day 21, but I haven't heard anymore since then. I suppose I should candle them tonight, and keep any partially developed...
