Hey All!
I have 9 newly hatched babies. Two of them are three days old. The current temperature outside is around 80-85 degrees. Would it hurt them if I took one out for a small journey? Thanks ahead of time!

I'm glad! I had a hard time finding a straight answer about this. It's late day 24 and they are still hatching loud and strong! Were your eggs shipped?
Don't be! 99.5 degrees is on the cooler side of a still air. I used a still air too and kept it the 99. The cooler the temperatures the later the hatch. I still have six active pipped eggs left and I'm almost on day 24.
The first 18 days- 99-100 degrees and 35-45 humidity
I have a still air incubator, so I know 99 degrees is a little low for a still air. I also read online that lower temperatures cause small delays in hatching. . . I checked on my eggs just now and I think I saw an egg moving. I'm, right...
I'm a nervous wreak. It's day 21 and there hasn't been any movement or pips.... I'm freaking out. I candled the eggs on day 18 and they moved and seemed fine. But on day 19, I had a temperature malfunction for about 30 mins. I don't think it killed them though because I don't smell anything...
Hi All!
Day 18, I candled my eggs and saw lots of movement!. Yesterday, I was working outside for a bit. I checked the eggs, temp was 99 and humidity was 71%. I went out for about 30 minutes to an hour and came back and the temp skyrocketed to 118! Granted, the thermometer was right beneath...
I'm new to baby chicks and whatnot. The poor thing is what you call the "runt" of his chicken siblings. I would maybe get some medicated chick feed and lots of water. Keep him warm and comfortable. Chances are he's just weak and needs to gather his strength. If I were you, I would keep an...
Hey Members of BYC!
I'm starting a small flock of chickens in about a month. I live in a suburban area, so I can't have too many chickens. But I was planning on getting a duck. I've read online that one duck can become lonely, but I have also seen stories of a single duck living with...
I know muscovy ducks have talons. I was thinking of buying two female muscovy ducklings with my newly hatched chicks. When they get older, can they live together? I have a giant run space, but they would share a coop. Is is dangerous for the chickens? Like the talons?
There are a couple different places I've considered, I haven't made up my mind yet. Good luck to you and your ducklings!! Hope everything goes well!! :)
