So its pretty freezing here (for me at least). Feels like -8 according to my phone. Our girls had a couple eggs out in the coop. Question is, is it ever too cold to bring eggs in to put in the incubator?
Pretty sure a coyote ran off with two of our hens. We found a wing. That's it.
The husband saw one the other day in our field and since then two have come up missing.
I'm torn on what to do. I'm excited at the thought of wildlife in our area. We just moved the metro area to a more...
So this is our first time attempting to hatch. We started with 7 eggs on the 24th. This would be day 5. I see nothing but yolk. Are they all duds? Am I not seeing something? Maybe thats NOT a rooster :P
So we're having issues with our birds sleeping in their nesting boxes. How can I train my birds to stay on the roosts?
I need your tried and true methods! Our Silkie hen doesn't sleep in one just our Leghorns
The roosts are available but they're just not using them. Is there a way to make the...
So besides just being gorgeous, what do peacocks actually DO?
I'll need ammo as to why I need one
Chickens can give me eggs. Peacocks are so pretty, we've talked to getting some but the hubs will wonder what it could benefit.
Keep down bugs? Keep away predatory birds?
I know they can be...

If I get a hive, will the chickens just hang out...
I wasn't aware there was a limit.
I got caught up in the "Coop sign" thread and there were some amazing ones :]
What is the limit? I can't seem to find it anywhere. haha!
So I'm new to keeping birds. We've had our flock of 5 chickens for about 9 months. My family has offered to give me some turkeys. Two toms and two hens. Not quite sure of the breed. Was just wondering how difficult they are. I know they are quite a deal bigger than the chickens. We let...
The bird closest to my kiddo. I thought these were silkies, but after looking at the images on the breed page, I'm thinking they're a mix? I have a hen and rooster. They don't look as fluffy as the ones in the other images. Trying to find a better picture in the mean time...
Good evening all!
Just wanted to pop in and introduce myself. I'm new to keeping chickens and found this site during several of my "how to" searches. Figured I'd should join since I'm sure I'll have a ton of questions soon!
We currently have 5 birds. 3 I believe are Leghorn hens and one each...
