I am hitting a roadblock on what to name my farm. The only decent one i thoughtve is Disher's Diversified Farms. See if you could come up with a better name with Disher in it. Thanks
those are sort of like stretch marks that area is growing faster than the feathers can. Raising them on fresh clean grass moved daily helps a lot, so does clean bedding
A lot of people including myself asked this question about a year ago. I was going to try it and it worked very well. I fed 1 batch of 50 CX's with pure chicken feed and 1 with Chicken switching to pig feed (week 4 was the last of the chicken feed). 5 weeks later the pig feed chickens did as...
Sounds like a white holland tom on a BBW hen then? What would you guys predict as far as growth rate, feed conversion etc? Am I saving any money at 6 per poult. Next year it may be up to 100 turkey poults ill need so even a dollar savings is good.
You think I could use a small tom (BBW) and a hen (BBW) as long as she doesn't develop issues? Did I understand that or did you mean some other combination? Also are white holland smaller than BBW?
I want to breed my own meat turkey, I know BBW can't mate naturally but I was thinking a white holland and a BBW Hen. Has anybody ever tried breeding your own meat turkey? I know I can't match the feed ratios and stuff but I hope to come close.
Could you guy please look at my post on the Fermented Feed For Meat Birds thread, this post is getting old and I was a lot more detailed about my question? Thank you
I have a system I would like you all to critique, I am going to try ferment feed on a commercial scale
A 275 gallon IBC tank with the top cut off, raised up on pallets. Then you add your feed (400 lb. @Max) and water with starter culture, then after 24 hours drain soup out through the 2 inch...
I have a system in mind where the water will never be changed (Could be) but if it is only for 24 hours can feed be over fermented? I could mix excess water 50/50 with normal water to dilute it or leave it more potent? I would obviously like to have it be done on a 24 hour basis
if you saved the water in a 55 gallon drum and drained it a 5 gal bucket at a time that sounds like it would work, 300# fits in a 55 gallon dry when dry so it should not take up too much room and if needed you could have multiple 55 gallon drums which you could re-use the started liquid, Pretty...
I have a challenge for the brave souls out there, Design a System That can ferment enough feed for 500 CX and 200 BBW Turkeys or about 400lbs at peak production. It cannot cost more than a few hundred dollars or require more than an hour a day (Exception could be made, explain your system...
I sold my first 50 for 3$ per pound and this current batch is going to be sold for $2.75 per pound they cost me 4$ to raise plus 3 to process and the way I find out my Price is Cost+10$ profit, and then if you need say 16$ to be profitable and have 8 lb birds you can lower your price to 2$ per pound
good, I start feeding my broilers pig feed tonight, I ordered two tons but my pigs will only eat 1.5 or less
I will cut it with 1/4 chicken feed, These birds have 5 days until butcher
For 3 week-olds I think I will go half and half slowly changing to more pig than chicken feed
For chicks...
To all arguing about where extra protein goes: It is used to grow body mass, "Extra" Protein either grows muscle or Fat
Tracy was exactly right "On another note, I've always heard that only a ridiculously low amount (like 30%) of nutrients in chicken feed are bio-available to the chicken...
