    Chick play pen

I have one that likes to escape and that's fine bc I never leave them unsupervised in it. They are just content to stay inside the box, once they are older I let the just go loose in the basement in the room they are kept in. Just wondering if it would hurt their legs at all.

My hen always lay an egg broken on one side

It seems like you're giving them enough calcium, but maybe she needs more. I would make sure she's not cracking them. Are the yolks gone?

    Chick play pen

I have 8 chicks right now and getting them used to my hands (petting and holding). I will put them in a little play pen so it's easier to see them and for them to see me. I made it out of two old shoe boxes and am wondering if the lip in between the two is too big. They can get across it just...

    Ducks with Chickens

Myducks have been fine all winter without a pond, but this is different. I wouldn't know about them trying to get to pond. I will warn you though I have had ducks attack chickens when being kept in the same enclosure. That might be stressing them out

    Duckponics and pond

When will my ducks lay eggs?

My ducks started to lay around seven to eight months of age. I would just give them a bit longer to adjust to their new home.

    Phoenix's yes or no

I am looking at getting an assortment of rare breeds from Murray McMurray Hatchery. One of the possible breeds could be a Phoenix. I would not have housing or the proper care tools for it if I got one. Would I still be able to take care of it or would I have to sell?

Should I move my chickens inside or not for the winter?

They have all those things. They have an old playhouse with roosts and nesting boxes, they also have an outside run with some roosts. It is protected by wind and rain. We were wondering if we could put straw bales along the one side that is completely open to black the wind. Could we? The...

Should I move my chickens inside or not for the winter?

Normally for the winter we put our chickens in a horse stall, but this year we have ducks that occupy their stall. We don't know what to do with the ducks and we've talked about leaving the chicken so outside. It can get pretty cold where we live and I'd be extremely worried if we left them...

    How long does it take

Sometimes it can take twenty four hours for the chick to fully hatch! It's probably tired so give it some time. Best of luck!

Are these Americaunas chicks or Easter Eggers?

I got these chicks from Runnings and was told they were Americaunas but most places I've read say they are Easter Eggers and not true Americaunas.
