Thanks for your opinions. If its a boy i will still keep him. I will see if I can get a close up of the comb tomorrow. The red spots on the belly are darkening too. I Dont see red on the wings.
I have 4 Isa Browns that are named Peep (my lap chicken ), Penny, Petunia and Pansy. I have 2 EEs names Nira and Cheeks and 5 black stars I haven't named yet. I'm still working on names for them.
I got 12 black broilers from ideal. Has anyone had these? What was your experience? Also does anyone know what the breeds they used to cross them are? I've heard jersey giant or austrolop crossed with a dark cornish. Im just curious. I really wanted to try a meat bird that was a slower grower...
This is my first year with chickens. I started out wanting a small number like 3 or 4. I ended up with 11 layers and 26 meat birds this spring/summer. That was after i gave 6 to a friend! Thank goodness my husband is a patient man with excellent carpentry skills
Just thought I would update on the gender of the chicks. All 6 of them were roosters. Every. Single. One. I am wondering if the whole straight run bin was male...
I have to say though the male barred rocks are gorgeous.

I have the same from TSC. They are Isa Browns otherwise known as golden comets. Very cold hardy and excellent egg layers. Mine are very friendly too. :)
I got 6 pullets from tractor supply and they were Brown Isas. Basically mixed breed sex links. I went to 2 stores in my area and so far that is all they have had for assorted pullets. They also had barred rocks at one store and rhode island reds at the other in straight runs. Not much of a...
Thank you all for your help! I hope they are pullets. The last ones comb is bigger than the others sooooo that one may be a boy. He can just keep the other safe :)
