    Moderns with cold legs?

Thanks for the post. My coop is inside my barn and there is not a draft at all in there. I just worry because their legs get so cold. Moderns are almost all leg, lol. I may just put more hay down for them. The nest that I allow them to sleep in is not the same one for laying eggs. It is actually...

    Moderns with cold legs?

Ok, so I know this may sound stupid but I am honestly worried about my Modern Game bantams legs... I have a little Wheaten roo and a Lemon Blue hen and they both have the Very long legs characteristic of the breed. Well when I pick them up their legs are freezing cold! I'm thinking I should make...

Silkie chicks, how early can you tell gender?

lol, well that is what I was afraid of but I am planning to get rid of at least 4 of these little ones and I would like to keep 2 females. How old do they have to be to tell what sex they are? I really do not need anymore roosters, lol.. I have 2 roosters of different breeds already.

Silkie chicks, how early can you tell gender?

I have 6 Silkie chicks that are a week old now, just wondering when you can tell the gender? I have 3 with prominent topknots and 3 without. Does the topknot have anything to do with the gender? These are my first Silkie chicks so I have no clue. I'll post a pic of them here in just a little...

What am I doing wrong? The eggs are getting smaller...

Thanks Big Dreams for the input. They seem settled in well but who knows with these crazy chickens. Ravenseye, I haven't tried a light in the coop... Hmm, maybe I will give that a shot and see if it helps. I am bumping this up though just to see if anybody else has an opinion or idea since it...

Help!! Impacted crop??? Why is she not growing?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure.. They are all 9 weeks old and about the same size as my Barred rocks and RSLs when they were only about 4 weeks old, The little red one is about the size of a 2-3 week old full size chick. She is tiny... I will check crop again tomorrow and post.

    Barred Rocks or Cuckoo Marans?

I will call today and find out where our feedstore gets their chicks from. I didn't mean to stir up a hornets nest with my post. Our feedstore gets rares all the time so mine are possibly Marans not just crossbreeds. I know he told me he buys an assortment everytime and it includes rares and...

    Barred Rocks or Cuckoo Marans?

They are all very friendly, but this little girl is just obsessed with me, lol Even the roo is very gentle and sweet. He started crowing a couple of weeks ago and I just love to listen to him in the mornings when I go out to feed. I have a bunch of chickens now, but these are my favorites. I...
