    Silkie Colors:

Yippie I'm still not sure what I have but now I have another silkie chick whom I'm wondering on color. BLAH here is my roo that I bought, was told it was Blue but I don't think so (I think splash?) I don't care because I want some of each color. This first one is of my roo... This one is of...

    Silkie Colors:

Can someone please show me pictures of a Blue Silkie and a Splash Silkie? I bought a Blue, but it seems that it's probable more splash. I've been seeing pictures on websites of "blues" that look just about black to me. Is this correct? How can I tell which is which?

Please help me with these silkies! PIC HEAVY!

When were they hatched? How old are they in the pictures? Silkies tend to take longer then standards and therefore it's about 5 months and up before it's really known what they are. It's a lot of guess work. What's been floating around is a rounded crest (the top knot fuzzy part) is a hen, while...

a pair of Silkies - 3 months old

I have never heard of a silkie crowing at 3 months. Standards don't even crow until 4 months (16 weeks) and Silkies tend to take longer then that. A Silkie's crow sounds like it's caught in their throat, it's actually quite comical to listen to until they get the hang of it. Good luck with the...

    Peafowl living arrangements

Thanks! Our peafowl are now going on like 4 months, they actually I think are bigger then our standards already. Our pheasants are probable a little smaller then them even though they are older. We did move them in, last night, with the pheasants. When I went in late last night they had been...

    Peafowl living arrangements

Hey all! I have a question. I have 2 peafowl, they are a couple of months old (hatched in July?) We have them in a enclosed area, next to pheasants (Mesh and a low board are what separates them). My question is a) is this okay? and b) would it be possible to move the peafowl in with the...

Question on Color and hopefully Gender but the picture could be wrong

I had a white rooster who was the sweetest bird ever! I would think this one is a rooster because all I've heard on the spikey top knot, but the comb is all but null. My laying hen has a bigger comb then this one! My black silkie rooster has like huge waddles and combs so that's what keeps...

Question on Color and hopefully Gender but the picture could be wrong

I have two of them and I think they are adorable and don't mind sense I'm not really, right now, worried about breeding to any specifications as I'm enjoying have the beautiful birds around. They are very sweet with my son too who is 3, so the colors don't matter, I just like knowing things.

Question on Color and hopefully Gender but the picture could be wrong

Here is my silkie who as a chick was very blueish grey, then it started looking on it's wings like partridge, I had him today and noticed it's changed back to the blueish grey color...any clue? Below is one of my odd colors, the head view, as I'm trying to figure out if it's a hen or roo. I...

please say I'm NOT a roo! blue banty's

I'm saying Girls!! I see nothing that says boy! Congrats on the beautiful ladies! As for Banty's being loud, that's a big loud yes! We have RIR standards and Silkies...our silkies will out crow our standard with ease!

    Rir

I have 4 hens and 2 roosters. Well we think 4 hens, though they are all the same age and one of them is not laying. I think we got 4 eggs twice (three eggs the day before, so I know we didn't miss one). I'm not sure why it won't be laying like the rest of them? But below is a picture of them...

Question on Color and hopefully Gender but the picture could be wrong

I am no longer breeding my showgirl as that's all I was getting!! I recently accuired a blue rooster. I love the coloring on yours! The little chicks in the bottom picture look so fluffy and greyish blue! So very pretty, I want one I have one chick who looked dark grey as a chick, then I...

Question on Color and hopefully Gender but the picture could be wrong

Partridge Showgirl and White Silkie Hen. I've never seen a porcelain before. I guess well I am trying to keep my line of colors for silkies very diverse, some of each color, but I didn't think I'd come up with a color I hadn't seen or knew about. They are absouletly wonderfully colored. Makes me...

What kind of silkie mix is this

Even after clicking on it, the picture was very dark and hard to see. It could be a partridge silkie, the coloring is right from what I could tell, including the wings. How old is the chick? I seem to hatch out tons of partridge chicks from my silkies when I had a partridge roo, so it's possible.

Question on Color and hopefully Gender but the picture could be wrong

Hello! I have a coloring question on my silkie, as pictured below. It is white with partridge though-out it in almost specks. Some of the specks are growing and covering more area. I'm wondering if as they grow they will become partridge colored? Is this something that happens, they get...

    Lice? Something else?

Hey all! I have 6 pheasants that have suddenly (at least we just recently noticed), are looking very bald on their backs. They seem to be picking their own feathers or scratching at them (can pheasants scratch their backs?) Would this be mites? Lice? What can I do to treat them and the...
