    Switched to sand, but...

I use a product called Koop Clean that is chopped hay & straw with sweet PDZ in it to help break it down. It is wonderful and the girls love scratching through it. I deep litter with it and it breaks down into wonderful compost for the garden! It also generates a little more warmth in the...

    What Breeds Do I Have?

Thank you! I thought they looked similar to those when I looked them up. Several breeds seem to have that coloring so I couldn't really tell.

    What Breeds Do I Have?

I walked into my local Orschlen for treats for my big girls last week and walked out with 6 more chicks. I got 3 Barred Rocks from a bin marked BR Pullets. I also got 3 chicks from a bin labeled Assorted Rainbow Layers. Wondering what breeds I got? So far from my research I think I...

Crop or Respiratory Issue - So Confused

Thank you for that information. I have read about MG a bit. I ordered my chicks from My Pet Chicken - they will be 2 years old in April. I have always done ACV with mother in the water and some of the other remedies you mentioned I've tried off and on. We do have good ventilation in the...

Crop or Respiratory Issue - So Confused

I have a 1 1/2 year-old EE that has been honking/wheezing. This has been off and on for a couple months. At first I thought she might just have a sensitivity to any dust that she gets into. She has not behaved any differently. Has been consistently eating, drinking, and laying. At one...

    Wheezing, Honking, and Sneezing

I have a 1 year-old EE that I noticed making a honking, wheezing noise this morning, along with frequent sneezing. She laid an egg yesterday, seems energetic, and is still a fast little booger that I could hardly catch to look down her throat. I didn't notice anything that looked abnormal. It...

    4 Eggs Yesterday, 0 Today

We have 4 out of 5 girls laying - 2 EE's and 2 of 3 BO's. Usually we get 2-4 eggs per day since they started laying. Today we got a whopping 0! Obviously the days are shorter with the seasons changing, but is it normal to not get any at all when at least 2 have been laying daily? Today has...

    Late Bloomers?

Thanks. I had thought I read that somewhere - and the seasons changing, too. At least by Spring we should be going strong!

    Late Bloomers?

I still have 2 BO's not laying at 6 months. They are healthy & happy, just not laying like the other Buff & 2 EE's. We got all 5 chicks from a hatchery at one day old. Their wattles & combs are getting redder. Could these two just be late bloomers? And the days are getting shorter and cloudier...

12 Week Old BO -Voice Changes - Hoarse

Update: No new symptoms at all and she is behaving normally. I think maybe it's just her voice changing. I'll still keep an eye on her, but I'm not as concerned as before.

12 Week Old BO -Voice Changes - Hoarse

Thank you. I also treated her with Vet Rx along with the rest of the flock, according to the directions. Hoping she's better in the morning. If not, I'll take the next step.
