    Puffy chicken foot

So I have these black sexlink hens. One of them have large bumps on top of their feet and when I first discovered I looked at the bottom of her foot and pulled out some rather large hard balls of something. Ever since it keeps coming back, along with getting filled with poop and dirt. Any ideas?

    Small, rough egg

I bought 5 17 week old red star chickens from a 4-H auction. Today I got an egg that had an extremely rough outer shell. I also got a small brown egg with a smooth outer. Is it just the first egg, or are they lacking nutrients? They are on a 21% layer pellet feed. I'm going to get a bag of...

    Young chickens with older ones

I tried an experiment today.. I took 2 of the month old chickens and released then with the older ones. (With carefully watching turn of course) they all ran over to the young ones and began to puff up and peck at them. I promptly intervened and return them to where they previously were. I...

    Young chickens with older ones

Thank you for the replies.. I have them in a large cage so they can indeed see each other. They have been like this for 4 days or so. My plan to merge them wasn't anytime soon.. I was only inquiring about the topic. I wouldn't really say I would have the capabilities of making a panic room...

    Young chickens with older ones

I have some chicks that are about a month old now.. I recently bought 5 red star hens about 6 months old. Do you think it would be ok to let the younger chickens out with the older ones? Would they pick on the young ones? (The young chickens are aracaunas and black star)

Baby chicks: medicated feed after being vaccinated

I have purchased more baby chicks from Murray McMurray (because my previous flock was wiped out by a varment) and I got them vaccinated for Marek's and Coccidiosis. I was feeding an all natural starter/grower to my previous flock; however, my local feed store has stopped selling this all natural...

Something killed almost ALL my flock

Just for a clarification, my usage of "relocation" along with the evil smile emoji was only to put a less gruesome detail out there. I killed the coon. Looks like I get another fur hat haha.

Something killed almost ALL my flock

I most likely caught the culprit of flock massacre. It was indeed a coon. It has been "relocated" anyhow, thank all of you for your input. I'll still have some traps set to possibly catch more of them .

Something killed almost ALL my flock

Some of them were eaten.. Some were only a chewed up head. There were feathers everywhere in the coop.

Something killed almost ALL my flock

Yes, like stated before some heads were chewed up while others were entirely mutilated. Racoons have been seen around once and a while. I live in middle TN and havd never known weasels to be a problem here.

Something killed almost ALL my flock

I had 20 pullets and 5 ducks. Now I am down to 2 ducks.. After investigating and disposing the corpses a majority of them had a chewed up head, while others were completely mutilated entirely. What could have been the cause of this? Did, weasel, mink? No worries though, the ducks have been...
