Well since I didn't have the dog cage. I removed her from the next several times a day and removed the bedding from her favorite nesting box. ( the other girls reluctantly started using the other boxes) I removed the fake eggs as well and after the other girls layer their eggs I keep bags of...
Thank you. However I don't have a dog cage? But yes she's in there all day and all night. I kicked her out this afternoon she ran around squawking ate a little I went back in the house after about 20 minutes and I didn't see her around about 5 min so I checked and back on the nest. Even...
I have a hen about 9 months old. And has been sitting on the nest non stop. The other hens have been sitting on top of her to lay ( even though I have more than one nest with fake eggs, they all insist on laying in the same nest). Well we have no roosters so it been a struggle to getvthe eggs...
I got these two cuties about 3 weeks from a straight run. I'm pretty sure the one closest to the camera is a Roo. It's bigger on overall size and the comb is bigger and pinker, but doesn't seem to by feathering out as fast as the other. I think they are both Roos but I'm hoping the smaller of...
Ok I just got two of these 3 weeks ago. And this is a different breed than I'm use too. I usually get red sex linked pullets but looking to expand my flock. And the combs are bigger than the pullets not sure if it's a breed thing. I think they are cockerels but still keeping my fingers crossed...
The brooder is between 92-95 with a cooler side. I've been making sure it's drinking but seems to be fading fast. I just checked her again and her vent was covered again. I cleaned her again. I'm so sad. However I have her seperated to insure that the other healthy chicks stay that way. Thanks...
I just got 8 new chicks. And one of them seems to breathing harder than the others. I noticed this morning that her vent was cover and I took care to clean her off and inspected her vent which doesn't seem injured. These two problems may be unrelated. But her labored breathing has me concerned.
Most of the feathers were on the coop floor. But found what looks like blood on some of the wooden fence. And some feather about 2ft high and between the fences where they over lap. The gap is maybe 2-3 inches.
So I have a secure coop that I lock my 6 girls up at night. And during a the day they are in a larger areas that is fenced in with a partial shade cover. When I checked on them around 4 pm one was missing except for a bunch of feathers on the floor of the coop. My husbands says he saw all six...
Thank you!. I went out and took a good look at my girls this morning while I gave them a special snack and I see white and black scab areas on one if my other girls. So I think they have the dry variety of fowl pox. I will keep a close eye on them. As I figure they all have been exposed and it...
I noticed today that it seems one of my girls has a sore on her comb and on her waddle. It looks like a crusted over ulcer. I'm wondering if it could also be a wound from being pecked. But I haven't seem any of the other girls being aggressive with her. What can I do?
