    Has anyone seen this before?

This is our new baby. I know the picture isn’t the best. My husband calls it scissor bill. He/she has no issues eating, was the first one to hatch and is bigger than its brothers and sisters. While it looks worse than it did when it first hatched, he/she seems to be otherwise healthy and...

    Please help

I purchased quail eggs and have them in an incubator. Today is day 17 and so far no signs of pips. I keep telling myself to not be impatient! I’ve never tried to incubate quail before but my 10 yr old is beside himself waiting for them to hatch. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

    Our first hatch

This is Sam. He/she is a 2 day old muscovy. If I had not had assistance and input from BYC members Sam would not be here. My inexperience in incubating & hatching eggs resulted in only one of 11 eggs hatching. Due to high humidity during incubation Sam was still in the shell with no...

    Our Muscovy adventure

We brought home three 8 wk old Muscovy babies yesterday. This is our first experience in raising ducks. Our intention is to integrate them into our existing flock of 27 chickens. Just as we did two years ago when we started out with two chicks, we are researching everything, learning as we go...

    Heat lamps

My buff orpington chicks are a week old today. I have a heat lamp in the brooder but I thought the temp might be too warm in there because they looked like they were panting. I've moved the lamp and that solved the issue but I'm curious........how long should I use this heat lamp? Do they...
