I have a silkie who has suddenly become uneasy on her feet. Wings are down. A little shaky. And beak is chattering now and again.
What could it be? Eating okay. Crop full. Poo seems a little runny but not overly concerning
Please help :(
I have a silkie who prolapsed a few weeks ago. We sorted that issue but now her bottom is puckering a lot and she is acting as though she is broody. However no interest in food and her tail is permanently up.
Her poos are smaller than usual
Any thoughts or advice please ?
After a fair bit of research it seems Cayuga ducks will be best suited to our garden.
We already have 3 lavender pekin hens and one silkie rooster. (We believe (still quite young))
But it seems very difficult to find these breed of duck in the east midlands, England.
Also, I've read it's best...
My bf has said if our adopted silkie is a roo he has to go, he is safe until he starts waking the neighbours up at silly o clock. Should I stop kidding myself and stop saying he is still to young to know his sex and just come to terms with the fact he is a roo ? :(
My 2 and a half month old silkie has no feeling or movement in left leg.
Other than that, he's Perfectly fine.
Vet says mareks, but I think we are holding on to false hopes that it's just an injury.
Any advice? :(
I'm in the process of trying to introduce a new chicken to the 3 I have already, has anyone got any tips? when will I know they're actually ready to live together?
Thanks :)
last night we let the chickens roam the garden and put the newbie in a pen in the middle so they can all see each other but not get too close to each other.
Bertie, the new one, was desperate to go and see them and the others seemed very interested.
So we let bertie out to see if he would run...
Ah! Thank you for your thoughts !
We are very new to silkies and we believe Flump, the fuller head of feathers (iin the single photo eyeing up the camera) was the roo!
suppose only time will tell.
I shall continue to attempt getting decent pictures !
Thanks again :)
Always wanted chickens but was never allowed, recently moved out and my partner bought me 2 white silkies and a lavender pekin for my birthda.
Recently adopted another silkie.
Love them so much !
We have 2 white silkies And 1 lavender pekin. We saw a woman with a silkies similar age to ours looking to re home due to the other chick dying.
So we've taken him/her in and at first one of the silkies wasn't too keen. But they all slept together fine, so we believe.
Woke up this morning to...
