    Thank you @llombardo for explaining so we can all learn. I’m new to ducks , chickens are very different. As I said with my chickens and styrofoam , accidents can happen , we are all human after all ❤️

    You could also try to ferment the feed, soak it in warm water for a few days . Feed it warm on cold days , you can add apple cider vinegar or garlic to it. I have my birds in a covered run, I can be found picking buckets of grass for them :) its free but boy is my back sore

    So is adding powder giving them a more varied diet? Are they healthier ? You’re correct you can pursue this for personal reasons , I’m saying I don’t get it at all .....that’s all :) I’m happy to get eggs from my healthy hens

    @Akrnaf2 How many eggs would be “natural” I’m just saying adding real food like grass and marigolds is one thing but adding a red pepper powder ( paprika) is like adding food colouring which some commercial establishments have been accused of doing

    There was no check on the plastic done, it was from what I understand just pushed back over the rabbit hutches... We only know what we’re told , but as a person who wraps the run in poly each year this made me concerned

    I just have to say Adding a coloured powder like paprika to make the yolks darker seems like cheating and silly your also affecting the bottom line for no reason . Basically they taste the same but the hens have to injest large amounts of this flavour less powder because you like them...

    Does her vent and stomach look normal? Not red and swollen ? Are you sure you know who’s laying which eggs? I’ve never had ee but I know they lay a variety of colours , new layers are sporadic for sure . Do you offer light for 14 hours? I have a 40 watt bulb for two coops it’s so romantic ❤️...

    @Saaniya Water doesn’t remove dry blood or the smell , you need soap but baby shampoo is best by eyes, chickens can smell blood

    When you wire the light socket yourself you can use 3 prong plug as we did @Joecarbs nipples freeze in winter , even in my heated coop ( can’t believe I said that :))

    @LittleMissCountry they will all peck at blood that doesn’t mean they’re bullies. Mine was (as yours sounds ) an injury and that’s all. My first sign of blood in my 5 years with chickens :) pretty good odds I’m glad she looks good

    Mine got her head caught by trying to go from one nesting box to the other behind the divider, Accidents happen it’s not always from lack of space or boredom . Once there’s blood you have to deal with it. Happy Shampooing ❤️ Mine made a 100% recovery

    The panting might have been from a blockage .... the plastic might have been stuck somewhere. You did all you could have done and more , A professional gave their opinion , nothing more you could have done , But please move the plastic from their reach , put only wood or wire where they can...
