Is this molting or a parasite?

No rooster. Just 5 hens. They are acting pretty normal, eating etc.

Is this molting or a parasite?

4 of my 5 chickens have this going on. It looks sort of ... crusty/fuzzy. They have been molting but I thought we were nearing the end of it. I examined them and don’t see any skin irritation or obvious mites or lice, and there are definitely pinfeathers in there, but none of my hens have looked...

    Laying REALLY early???

This is the more mature looking of the two. I separated them from my other birds yesterday just to make sure, so I'm sure it was them.

    Laying REALLY early???

I just added two Black Australorps to my flock of five 1-year old chickens about 2 weeks ago. The breeder told me they were 14 weeks old, and that looks about right. They are still small, and their combs and wattles still look chick-ish -- not developed or red at all. THEY ARE LAYING??? Tiny...

    Chickens won't lay!

I have 5 chickens: two 30-week-old Buff Orps; one 30-week-old Delaware; and two 27-week-old Barred Rocks. They seem happy and healthy. They have lots of space and eat a ton. They are big and have red wattles and have been squatting for what seems like ages. One of the Orps started laying maybe...

    Don't go breakin my heart

Thank you! Haven't gotten any responses about the Delaware so I'm going to re-post with Delaware in the heading. (My Elton John reference did not do the trick.)

Delaware and Buff Orp gender help

These girls (?) are 5.5 weeks. I THINK all 3 are pullets. Would appreciate any help! THank you.

    Don't go breakin my heart

The BYC hivemind informed me today that 2 of my girls are dudes. Now I'm worried about the other 3. A Delaware and 2 buff Orps, all 5.5 weeks. Phone is being weird so pics in the replies.

Boys or girls (also, RIRs or PRs)?

Ugh. Just curious - what is it about Flo that says cockerel? Just the comb/wattles?

Boys or girls (also, RIRs or PRs)?

2 collages attached. Flo (the lighter one in first collage) and Charlene (the darker one in 2nd collage) are 5.5 weeks old. Both sexed female at hatch. I've always suspected Charlene was male (look at the legs on her!), though strangely it's now Flo who has the redder comb and wattle...

RIR - too soon to tell?

Another picture of him (?). I'm new to this. Is it too soon to tell gender?

RIR - too soon to tell?

I suspect that one of my 3 week old RIRs is male, based on feather development, attitude, and slightly upright posture. It's the one on the far left -- RIR pullet (I think) of same age is in the foreground.
