2 Sumatra and one EE Cockerel

Yes, but winter has set in for us, so shipping is not really a current option:(

2 Sumatra and one EE Cockerel

Southeast alaska, and yes. Roosters are not allowed within city limits, which annoys me because we have neighbors with dogs that bark constantly, but a rooster crowing is too loud. :(

2 Sumatra and one EE Cockerel

I received three cockerels in my order of female chicks this spring. We are very sad that both of our Sumatra chickens are boys:( I am desperately trying to re-home them all locally, but not currently having any luck. Just pay shipping! These boys are too beautiful for the stew pot! Contact me...

    Is Hedwig a rooster?

Thank you for the help. Unfortunately we live close to neighbors and won't be able to keep him unless he is super quiet:( Hopefully the feathers are just playing tricks on me. What about the comb says roo? The color?

    Is Hedwig a rooster?

This is Hedwig, our 6 week old Easter Egger. Every time I lay eyes on her this past week, the tail feathers yell rooster at me. She was purchased (along with a slew of other females) as a sexed female Easter Egger from Murray mcmurray... But I'm having doubts. Is our Hedwig a rooster?? [/IMG][/IMG]

The BEST re-usable brooder money can buy! ($25-40) - 36 to 63 SQ FT

Mims- your set up looks great! My babies spent their first night in the coop last night, so I don't get to use this method for this round of babies, but next time I will for sure!

McMurray mystery chick, what do we have?

Thanks, it's already red around the edges, I think it's safe to say that Sherlock is a boy.

The BEST re-usable brooder money can buy! ($25-40) - 36 to 63 SQ FT

This is absolutely brilliant. I have a small cheap tent just like this that I bring camping as a back up tent for my dog (in case he gets super wet etc). Do these keep the dust at least semi contained? If so, I am totally using this idea, our babies are about 4 weeks old now, and the dust is...

Week old chick half the size of the others?

We also have a super runty chick (pictured at middle). She is the same age as all the others, but 1/4-1/2 of the size of the others. I have some of the nutri drench on order, but don't have access to a feed store to just pick some up. I have a packet of nutritional powder (to be mixed with...

Slow (failure to thrive?) growing chick...

Thank you so much. I will plan on ordering some, however I live in southeast Alaska, and don't have the option of just going down to the feed store. When I got the chicks, they came from mcmurrays hatchery, and I have some powdered nutrition stuff that came with them, would that be a comparable...

Slow (failure to thrive?) growing chick...

Hi everyone, we currently have 15, 3 week old chicks. It's a mixed bag, but one of them is significantly smaller than the others. The chick in question is a small breed anyway, a Phoenix, however she is much smaller than any of the other chicks. She is feathering, but slower than the others. She...

Darn, if it's true, maybe it'll be a quiet one?? Here's hoping

McMurray mystery chick, what do we have?

[/IMG] Here he/she is again, 2 1/2 weeks old. (And totally unimpressed with my photo taking) This one is our biggest chick, and has gotten quite the defined comb, which makes me think rooster. Thoughts?

Spin off- are my 2 week old chicks going to get to cold without a heat lamp?

Thank you! I think I will wait, maybe I'll start turning the lamp off intermittently for a couple of hours in the evenings while I am home. I don't want to freeze their little tail feathers, but making them cold hardy will do them good in the long run. Where I am at, days at 70 degrees or above...

Spin off- are my 2 week old chicks going to get to cold without a heat lamp?

Hi all, thank you all for being so welcoming! Spin off question to are my chicks to hot, didn't want to thread hijack. :) My (15) girls are now 2 weeks old. I still have them under a heat lamp, however I am wondering if they are ready to go without the lamp while I am away at work (about 6...

    Time for the coop?

Heck yes! They're ready, kick those birdies outside:) Honestly, they will probably be happy for the move! Disclaimer: not an expert, but have raised chickens before;)

    Greetings from southeast AK!

Wow Michael Oshay! I hope Alaska can offer you everything you're looking for. I am a severe asthmatic myself, and I totally appreciate the clean air I get here! One thing that I didn't think of before is the light. I don't notice it, but everyone I have known to move here notices how light it...

    Greetings from southeast AK!

Oh yes, forgot about the moose. They can be mean I hear. Just peaked at home prices in the anchorage area. They're a bit cheaper than where I'm at, and land is way cheaper. (Our ~1/6 of an acre lot that our house sits on is valued at 90K for reference). But it makes sense, minimal flat...
