Can an Ayam Cemani have a white tongue and still be worth alot of $$$?

Ok, I understand what you were trying to state. I wasn't calling you out directly, I was just stating what I've come to see a lot on some posts about discouraging someone from starting with a flaw and trying to improve the breed. ACs are very rare and hard to come by perfect specimens, and I...

Can an Ayam Cemani have a white tongue and still be worth alot of $$$?

Great response, and I agree that if the culling is harsh and consistent in time it will be as improved as it can be from the starting stock. Does anyone know if the original breeds from their homeland may have the traits of the original poster's bird? This bird is very uncommon and rare, yet...

    A Bielefelder Thread !

I have 3 cockerels and 1 pullet that are 6 weeks old. I got them from an auction on RBA from a certified NPIP seller out of Ohio bout 3 weeks ago. I'd be willing to let a pair go for $60 plus shipping. I'm in the Charleston area of SC. They are off of the GFF lines according to the seller. Let...

    Bresse Chickens

Awesome! Thanks for the info. At what age do you add the dairy to their diet? Is regular milk or buttermilk ok to use in lieu of Goat's milk? I look forward to the pictures. I have mine on 20% protein right now, should I put them on the 23%? I'm pretty sure I have 4 cockerels and 6 pullets, so I...

    Bresse Chickens

I got 1 day old chicks from Bresse Farms on 7/8, and the legs are showing a hint of color, but still not blue. 2-1/2 weeks old, sounds like that is normal from what I've read above. I am beginning to see the combs grow on a few of them, still a little early to tell for sure. They are active and...

Designed and Built Incubator - Have to start somewhere!

Thanks for the info gpop, I was thinking of venting through the top, but I'm not sure what size hole yet. Guess I'll start small and enlarge if I need to. I'll definitely do a shakedown cruise before running real eggs. I've got a lot going on right now, so I'll be thinking on this a while...

Designed and Built Incubator - Have to start somewhere!

Wow! Thanks, I'm not sure I'm electronically savvy enough to tackle that, but you are right it does look like the same system. You are definitely several pay scales above me with the eleoctronics. I was thinking of a more simple system. draw air in from vents and allow the temp, humidity...

Designed and Built Incubator - Have to start somewhere!

Ok, I've got my starter mini fridge. I picked it up for $25, it's a Danby wine cooler came with 3 fans, a heater and lights that I will have to relocate and configure for optimization. Any recommendations on location of the heater and fans would be much appreciated. It has 6 wooden racks that...

Note to self, sponge rubber shelf liner and air stone bubbler to increase humidity. Great info from all, thanks.

That's disappointing about the little humidifiers, they looked promising. Sounds like your brooder will be full soon.

Designed and Built Incubator - Have to start somewhere!

Sounds good. Thanks for the update. I think I may shortcut the build and try to find a mini fridge with a glass door, then rig the humidifier, temp and humidity controller along with the egg turner. Look forward to your data and hatch.
