First Saturday Lime vs. Ag lime

We use barn lime daily here, and we have never had a problem. If your chickens are consuming the line enough to notice make sure they have free access to oyster shells, and grit.

Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

I was about to direct seed some lettuce and put a clear roof panel over them like a greenhouse, but now I will wait another week or two. I did go out and poke in my garden boxes and they are totally thawed and the worms are active. So once the weather turns again I might seed some radish out...

    Injured toe on silkie rooster

My guess is it got frostbitten. The end of the toe may eventually fall off one day. I personally would just leave it alone and keep an eye on it.

I love it when they are still egg shaped. Nothing cuter than freshly hatched chicks. :love

10 day old Jersey Giant chick injured by other chicks. It's not an emergency - need advice on next steps

The usual advice to start the brooder at around 90 degrees and drop it by 5 degrees a week. So by 2 weeks I'd shoot for 80 degrees at the warm end. I always use their behaviors to help me decide if it's right. They will be spread out evenly if the temperature is correct for their age. Some under...

    Olive egger pullets or cockerals?

Two weeks is pretty young to sex them. Generally males will get pink combs than red by 6-8 weeks of age. It's not always 100% accurate. I would wait longer.

10 day old Jersey Giant chick injured by other chicks. It's not an emergency - need advice on next steps

How big is their brooder? That type of aggression at that age is generally because they need more room, or are too warm. You can use a small piece of fencing to form a circle to isolate the chick within the group.

Gender of these silkie mixes :)

I can't see B's comb well. The wider combs of A and C make me think male. I'm no expert on silkies. I'm very curious what the DNA test shows. I've not heard of using them to sex chickens.

3 Different Breeds, 100% inside, scratching their heads and wiping beaks on the mat

Have you checked them over for mites? Sounds like they aren't ever in contact with adult birds, so that's probably unlikely. They are growing in feathers, so perhaps that's why they are itchy.
