Thank you! Just looked up the forums regarding Lash eggs. Gross. Her egg was liquid inside and at least resembled an egg. She appears completely normal...healthy weight and physically normal. Eating and foraging...I'm going to keep an eye on her.
Just found a very large bumpy rubbery egg (not thin membrane but THICK) in the coop. It was gross! We cut into it easily with a knife and peeled off multiple layers like a soft onion.
The inside was completely scrambled.
All three chickens appear to be fine. We suspect it is from our eldest...
We did it! We did it! We did it! We got a positive poultry ordinance passed in Prescott, WI! Super awesomeness! It took a lot of work, research, speach making and a formation of the Prescott Urban Poultry Group (local rescue group) to get the job done but we can legally keep up to 6 chickens...
Our Chicken Coop
(Yes it is a little big for 2 Chickens. But we love our girls)
Here are the girls:
Here is the Coop.
We wanted to be able to visit with them during the cold winter months in Wisconsin.
The finished Coop
About 1/3 of the material I received...
We have our nesting box under our roost. We have lots of windows in our coop so we only have one wall for both see pic below. Also we only have 2 chickens
I brought hardware cloth that was 4 feet wide. From the pic below I ran a 2x4 across the run to attach the 2 sections together. I overlapped them and used wood screws with washers
I cover all sides of my run with plastic except for one. I got in little snow in but not much. It also cut down on the wind. The girls loved it and spent many of chiller day out in the run.
I have an 8x8 coop for 2 chickens. The chicks love the extra space. Also allows me to sit in the coop during the long winter and spend time with the chickens.
I live in Wisconsin and have an insulated coop. The walls and ceiling are insulated but I do have lot of ventilation. The walls are covered with plywood. The gables and the roof peak are open but are secure with hardware cloth to keep vermin out. Also I use the deep litter method and have...
Got an early Christmas Present Today. Gnocchi laid her first egg. I got the call from the wife this morning. It's a little brown one. We'll be keeping that one. I told the wife I get to eat the next egg. Now we just have to wait on Pepper to start laying.
My water and food are on the other side of the coop from the roost and raised off the floor to keep stuff out of them. Also from the picture below I have a patio block under the food and water to help with spill cleanup and also from flooring getting in the them.
We have 2 adolescent medium sizes birds. The roost is about 5 feet long and the coop is 8x8. I have a poop board that is covered with linoleum and I also sprinkle pine shavings on top. Right now with winter upon I clean the poop board about 2 twice a week. During the summer and nicer...
Just checked on the girls this morning before I left for work. Temp in the coop is 10 degree and the outside temp is 0. I have a weather station that allows me to have a thermometer in the coop and outside so I can decide if I need to turn heat on in the coop. I plan on trying to keep the...
