    Aussies

Quote: Yeah. If they just want a companion, then I don't reccommend an aussie. They go INSANE left alone and need a job at all times.

    Crossing colors

Okay thanks. And what would a dark rooster produce when crossed when light and buff hens?

    White Chicken

I'm 95% sure its a roo. The pullets combs are usually still pretty pink and small at that age.

    Crossing colors

Okay. I decided that I'm getting mostly Brahmas (I used to have them and love them so much) and then a few leghorns for eggs. I want light and buff brahma hens and a light rooster. What can I expect crossing the buffs and the lights? I'm hoping it won't be something funky

    Aussies

I prefer females and have had the opposite experience than the above poster with herding vs. show lines. I find the show dogs are often unfocused airheads and the working dogs are intensely focused on the task at hand be it moving the chickens or just keeping an eye on them. As for sex...

    Choosing a breed

lol you guys have me making a list. I think I decided against the sex links and would prefer to do 10 RIRs and 10 Rhode island whites. Has anyone had problems with comb frostbite on combs in these guys?

    Choosing a breed

I had chickens for a while and had to sell them because I wanted to free range and my poor little silkies and sebright mixes wouldn't survive in the the great outdoors (which they hated). So what is a good breed to free range? I am looking to get about 20 chickens. Egg layers. Color isn't...

    Another chick question

I have a small black chick. She was nearly identical to a black jersey giant or an australorp chick. Except now her wing feathers are growing in bright white. I am 99% sure she isn't a barred rock. Bred those for a while and her white is placed differently, she lacks a head spot, and she seems...

    EE color ID

Thanks. I am thinking I will end up with 2 like Pippin and Cleo and the light one could be buff or black/white.

    My Chickens Don't Like Me!

Bread is just fine as a treat. Just like with people, moderation is the key. I've found that cheerios are also an excellent treat.

    EE color ID

My lovely horse decided to pick up my camera and absolutely crush it, so I found some identical pictures on google of what my new trio of pullets currently look like . Anyone know what color they will turn out to be? I'm already looking for a roo for them. Shhhh...
